Call me casual, but I think DMC4 Dante on DMD is boring. Dante just feels like he's got too little stunning ability and damage. Because of the time limit until enemies DT, it feels like the only real way to deal enough damage to enemies is with prop --> distorted RIs or straights, which gets dull. Otherwise, I'm looking at weakly whacking at frosts as I dodge every few seconds, or they dodge out of my attacks as I'm hitting them. Nero is too simple, but Dante feels ineffectual unless I'm willing to abuse a few really good moves, but that doesn't feel all that fun.

Anyone else think the colors used in DMC5 and the fluid animations hurt legibility sometimes? I thought it was just the unfamiliarity but now that I've spent a bunch of hours on DMC5 and see some DMC4 again I can't help but feel, enemies do a way better job of "popping out" to the foreground in that game, and they have way more legible animations. Like with DMC4, there's one clear cut slow idle animation, and then when an enemy does an attack, it does an attack, it's immediately noticeable even from the corner of your eye. Very arcade-y. With DMC5, sure you get the hang of it after a while, I can tell when something is attacking and when not, but in general I feel like it needs more concentration in spots where it is not supposed to. Enemies jump and swirl around in all kinds of manners between attacks, enemies are various shades of brown and black and so are most stages, like it's just all a bit more straining. Everything just has this "realistic" feel to it, and sacrificed some of it's gameyness.

Yes. DMC4 style is infinitely better. Even in DMC3 you can clearly see all the enemies and their attacks but in 5 it's a lot harder.

You get more weapon slots for Dante after SoS. It also unlocks by beating DMD too, I just skipped SoS and unlocked it that way.

Anyone else didn't like Dante's summoned swords gimmick? I think it was a bad idea, doesn't look cool, not very interesting mechanically, convoluted yet not interesting enough. Devil Trigger on Square, Gun on L2, devil breaker ability on Circle, Breakaway on L1, devil bringer on D pad. I would have switched devil bringer and devil breaker abiltiy, but for some reason showdown and maximum bet use triangle and devil breaker ability instead of triangle and devil bringer, so I need them next to each other.

With his 4 and 3 DT the sheath was kind of held in place and merged with his arm but still seperate.
Now it seems like the sheathe has merged with both arms and he just absorbs it and the sword back into his body like Nero used to while he's in DT at least.

Always be charging a shot, to release it at maximum strength. Air taunt whenever the cooldowns up. Try to exceed every hit, don't expect to always get maximum, just be glad when you do. In the air, do roulette spin first before doing anything else, and don't forget you have an ariel stinger on Nero.

If there were any bosses you didn't actually know, now you be forced to learn what they're actually doing and how to react, because you'll die in two or three hits. Sometimes one hit from certain moves. So don't feel like you're bad if you start dying, feel like you're learning. Same might go for some general enemy types too which you weren't required to understand. Furies are going to be difficult. For Nero you can use ragtime to get a free buster grab on them, and with Dante, you can activate a royal counter which lasts a generous few seconds when you think they're going to strike.

Until Sparda rebelled both human and demon worlds were one, it's his seals that are keeping them separate and by DMC5 they've broken down almost completely which is how the fruit was even able to grow.

DMD has been the best in DMC4, felt really balanced with idiotic health pools.

But I auto-piloted through SoS until mission's 17-20, which were just challenging. DMD forces you to understand the game, so I think it's the real hard mode and SoS is more like a normal mode. As in it's just whatever, then gets hard at the end, like any normal game.

DMD in dmc1 actually makes enemies easier and you completely negate enemy DT by using your own, unless you deliberately go out of your way to challenge yourself by doing mission 1 with a fresh save file and regular dante its really nothing to worry about

Fury's worse than Blitz desu. Easier to follow and hit, the big issue is he hits like a fucking truck and his super-armor is strong, but he has no i-frames like Fury.

I've mapped everything, and the only thing that glows on the whole body that can be colored is inside the mouth, and only the bottom jaw/tongue. Same for Vergil, the glowy thing appears to be somewhere else

motherfucker the shotgun does a truckload of damage and if you learn to jump cancel it and cancel the enemy momentum with E&I or otherwise you can increase your style immensely

That's because they tried to prioritize stuntmen as their talent since it made mocapping much easier. Reuben, Dan, and JYB have worked with JAE and Alpha Stunts, one of whom is one of the oldest stunt companies in Japan and the other has worked with JAE For decades now. As a result they're prime mocapper material.

Given the Devil Bringer just sorta happened to him when he was older, he probably thought it was just some kind of demon AIDS. And he has a visibly hard time trying to swing Red Queen, it knocks him all over the place, he's just following its moomentum.

Judging by everyone's combat one thing is for sure. Vergil watched too many samurai movies and anime. Dante watched too many kung fu movies. Nero watched too much WWE.

Not the guy you're asking, but some of them are cool but they aren't really that important a lot of the time, it is a bit as you say

In his DT form he shapes what looks like a yamato. He seems to be able to create spectral things. His powers are similar to Vergils but a little distinct. His arms also change in size in combat depending on the move he's doing. Needs a DT ult where he just gets a big arm like in the 4 ending and just beat the shit out of a mob by smashing them into the ground repeatedly.

one nitpick that I have about the game is that the faces are very poorly animated during gameplay
in cutscenes they went through all this effort to make every incredibly detailed and lifelike facial gestures, but in gameplay they look incredibly static and unnatural, like the goofy face nero makes all the time during combat, or how V just looks dead and static with very unnatural mouth movement when reading his poetry
