All it has for single player is arcade, with no arcade endings for characters like Tekken or MK, combo challenges and training, and doa quest which is a different challenge mode where your character and opponent are preselected and you have to win a match while doing certain goals, like hold X amount of mid kicks and do X amount of damage in one combo

DOA Quest, Survival, Arcade, Versus and Time Attack. Training counts I guess and obviously spectator mode for watching CPU's fight and camera mode to take your precious ecchi shots.

The rewards are costume points that go for unlocking costumes for characters, which you don't do much with if it's well the characters you don't own but you can still enjoy previewing them regardless. 26 characters in total at the moment, King of Fighter guest characters in couple of months.

As in not actual training mode but if you go like lessons mode and find the one with character that's used for it you can try out anyone and obviously there's DOA Quest mode where you're forced to try different characters constantly so you get the hang of each one's strengths.

Training mode is just with 4 characters and you pick your dummy for the characters you have available to you.
Still you can just go lessons mode and try out any character there which is something they can't really do much about, you just don't have to do the task asked from you and you can try out commands there regardless and train.

Consoles never release data on playerbases, currently there are 300 to 600 DOA6 players on PC which is healthy numbers at the moment for this game and I can get matches going fast (although the net code is pretty fuggen bad). I don't know how into you are fighting games but most pro players get and play on PC past couple of years like Tekken, Soul Calibur and Street Fighter so for those games it has never been an issue anymore.

Honestly, it won't be too long. They're probably going to try and mostly make their profit from DLC now. Probably this holiday season it'll be down to 49.99 during Steam sales then next year they'll announce the next version and this one will go to 39.99 by summer 2020.

That said the game does have some censoring that applies to all versions, any break blow that triggers a cinematic where one character hits another in the face, for example Diegos big ass haymaker that rocks his opponents jaw, is censored if it's used against Marie, Honoka, or Nico
Instead of the cinematic triggering when a break blow hits those characters the camera will instead pan around so you can't see the blow land, using Diego as an example again, once you trigger the move the camera will spin around to behind Diegos back so his body blocks your view of the entire move and you never see Marie, Honoka, or Nico get hit

Started to get into it finally. Hitomi is one of my mains so the fact that she's free helped a lot. I'm surprised you can do everything but Story mode for free. They made the 100x costume pack thing permanent which probably saved this game from getting instantly trashed by most players. I just wish each character had their own rank in the Ranked mode. Without it I get totally wrecked when trying new characters. Soul Calibur VI has it but I'm not sure if it's a standard thing in other games or not.

I wish there was a way to grind characters out for free but I can't complain too much. As is I've only actually bought Nyotengu since she isn't in the base bundles, and will probably buy the game if it goes down to about $30.

I know 90% of the player base is there for the waifus but they really dicked over the male characters, some of them only have two costumes.

It depends on the character. Most of the girls have 4 or 5 base costumes padded out with 3 color variations of each. Most also have hair styles, and sunglasses work on all characters.

Male characters mostly have two or three plus the color variations.

I've played about 4 hours of ranked and unlocked all of Hitomi's stuff for purchase, though you also have to actually unlock everything with in game gold at this point. The system is dumb but it's fairly easy to get what you want first.
