I enjoyed it a lot, probably the funnest game I played in 2017, the story was eh, enemy variety was eh, but I enjoyed the combat and exploration, plus all the interesting mechanics to play with.

For 100 hours, yeah its a pretty great game.

And its the most fun I've had in a Zelda game since TP, and I would say it is the best Zelda game overall, but other games do certain things better.

Love the series to death but yeah, it is. It's merely a skeleton of the game it's often made out to be. Not that it isn't barking up the right tree in a lot of ways, it just feels very much like a prototype of its exploratory ambitions.

Metal Gear solid 1-3 without revisions like subsistence, resident evil 1-3, undertale, FNAF all of them, Zelda from the fist one up to 64 but not Majora's, SSB melee, all crash bandicoot games, Diddy Kong racing, final fantasy 6/7/9/10, Warcraft all of them, Starcraft broodwar, Unreal tournament.

It really depends. Consider something like nuGoW where it's a god awful walking simulator circlejerked as fantastic. BotW is extremely mediocre and circlejerked as revolutionary, so is a 4/10 treated as a 9/10 more overrated than a 6/10 treated as a 10/10?

It's slightly overrated, I agree. I love the game but it isn't a 10/10 and the positive reviews should have highlighted some of the problems to.

Personally, I really enjoyed the game. I'm on my 3rd full playthrough (all shrines, fuck the seeds). This playthrough I am on Master though and really enjoying it.

The issue that I have with the game though is that, while this is a great game, I hope they don't continue with this formula going forward. I'd rather see them go back to what made Zelda, Zelda.

I'm personally stoked for the remake of Link's adventure coming out for switch soon, it seems really neat and I'd love to replay that title on nicer hardware.

I'd like, more than anything, to see a Zelda game that actually has more than 10+ dungeons, and have them actually be really well-thought out. I'd like weapon system of botw to be in it, but instead remove the weapon-breaking stuff. Make it so that there are many swords and shields and bows, and that they act differently. Maybe switch up runes, and bring back unique items.

It could be a blast.

It would have been good if it came out the year skyrim did. But it didn't and its fucking dated as hell.

Open world is a meme; empty world with a ton of korok seeds every 15 meters, same enemies everywhere, rains way too much, and lastly the game is absolutely way too easy if you don't play on master mode.

Id forgive all that if the game at least had shit worth getting in the world. You leave the plateau with every tool you can unlock in the whole game. Theres literally no reason to explore or to play the fucking game. The only shit in the world to find is more copy pasted asset mini dungeons or literal shit to unlock more equipment slots, both of which are the definition of padding.
The combats shallow and PUNISHES you for getting involved with it, wasting good equipment or consumables on the generic fodder trash around the open world that just respawns that just drops trash.
I hate Skyrim, but its unironically a better game then BoTW. At least in Skyrim theres quests that aren't just "BRING ME 10 CRICKETS", unique gear with unique effects to find, new shouts to find, more magic to get, ect. Theres shit to do.
BoTW is just a sandbox sort of game, but doesn't give the player enough tools to make that fun. Something like Kenshi or Dwarf Fort are fun sandbox games because they have depth and shit to do.

BOTW is great, but you can purposefully suck the joy out of playing it if you choose to play it optimally / like an autist.
Most overrated game of this generation is probably Witcher 3, though. I played that game for 6 hours and lost interest. I put 300 hours into BOTW, and still find it fun.
