Can you stop shilling these shit games already? Nobody cares you hyper autist.
Based boss battle theme.
Also, does anybody know in YKW2 when I can go back to do quests/crank a kai again? I just reached the chapter where time travel is jntroduced
Every time I see a yokai watch thread I ask the shills what the gameplay is like, and I always get vague non-answers. It's kind of telling when the shills can't even describe their game on a basic level.
I would imagine that you could use Miradox immediately after, although I honestly can't remember because it's been so long. Just go ahead and get further into that chapter, it should open up again.
People describe it in detail, especially with all the improvements made in 3's battle system from the 6 dial system to the 3x3 tactics grid, it's just that you don't care because you're ignorant, so you ignore it and then whine about people shilling the game.
It was explained pretty well
Ah, perfect. I fucking set you up to prove me wrong, gave you the perfect excuse to shill the gameplay, and look what happens. Two meaningless half details about the combat system. Less than nothing.
>hey man what's the gameplay of Dark Souls like?
>uh the broadsword has more strength scaling than the longsword
That's all I ever get out of you fuckers, every single thread.
considering that they've changed the gameplay a lot over the years, of course you're not going to get one simple answer.
ykw1 and ykw2 gameplay is kind of a weird mix between digimon world's indirect battle system and paper mario's minigame-esque approach to battles. you'd really have to play it yourself to understand.
ykw3 takes the battle system and adds a grid-based tactical element where the formation of your yo-kais on the field impacts the battle.
ykw4 is throwing all of that out and is going to use a ni no kuni 2-esque action rpg system where the player character fights alongside their yo-kais.
then there's yo-kai watch blasters, which is a diablo-style co-op action rpg spinoff where you play as the yo-kais themselves. it's similar to digimon world 4 except that it's not terrible like that game was.
>Merely pretending
Fine. In 1 and 2, the combat was like this,
>You have the 6 dial system
>What this means is that there's three Yokai on top, and three on the bottom
>At any time, unless your wheel is locked (which I believe only one superboss does in 2) you can rotate it
>You can turn it either left or right and have Yokai positioned in certain ways to give certain benefits, like how in 2, Sgt. Burly was busted because he gave big strength increases to Yokai that were adjacent to him
>You can have Yokai with skills that heal you when they're in the backrow, and some Yokai/items heal those adjacent to them, etc.
>Then you got Soultimates, which basically charge up after awhile to unleash a Yokai's specific ability, which there are tons of that I won't get into, varying from dealing damage, healing, increasing stats, or inspiriting
>Which then gets into inspiriting, which like before I won't get too into, but there are a variety of both friendly and harmful inspirits
>Inspirits that can lock an opponent from acting at all, have them throw money, attack their allies, deal burn damage, etc.
>To clear inspirits on yourself, you do a little minigame, which there's a good assortment of them, some much easier and faster to take care of than others
>You can't purify a Yokai unless they're in the backrow, and Yokai with harmful inspirits on them can't use their Soultimates
>There's also the Pin system, which allows you to target a specific Yokai, or on boss fights, target a section of the boss at specific times so you don't get your ass blown out
>There are bonuses to having Yokai of the same tribe set up next to each other, which can be an increase in speed, strength, chance to inspirit enemies, etc.
>You don't control your Yokai per se, but you can choose when to move rotate and when to use their Soultimate
>If you want your Yokai to be doing specific actions, then you can change their attitudes to perform things like healing, attacking, or guarding more
These games are cute.
...
In Yokai Watch 3, things like inspirits, attitudes, tribe bonuses, etc. were largely kept the same, but it's become much more interactive overall
>Now it's changed to the 3x3 tactics board, which both you and the enemy use
>Your Yokai are still performing and acting by themselves, but you can move them (which there's a round limit on when you can do it again) and position them in certain ways to get around an enemy using and getting hit by a Soultimate
>Soultimates have changed from just using them and hitting everything on screen (unless they dodge) to baiting enemies by setting up to use a Soultimate, backing out, and then using another Yokai's Soultimate to hit them when they can't move, but there are bosses that can bait you, so be mindful
>On the grid, there are chances for health pickups and drops that fill your soultimate meter that you pick up and use to fill yourselves
>There are also the chances to gain other pickup items, like for instance, if you're in the way of an enemies attack that's being telegraphed, if you move to tiles that are safe, you'll get a Nice!, and get enough of those and a random Yokai will drop by and throw you an item you can use, which the items vary, some are weapons that are one time uses and use immediately like a soultimate, others are stat increases, etc.
>Having Yokai positioned in certain ways means that enemies can't target them, but you also can't target specific enemies if they're hiding behind others, which it's generally a good idea to have your healers in the back behind, and you still get position bonuses, like if you have two Yokai horizontal, then when one attacks, the other will deal something called combo damage, which is basically a small extra attack
>There are also attacks, whether your own soultimate or the enemies, or even a bosses that can make tiles be bad to stand on, which'll gradually damage you, so positioning is always key to whatever you're doing
That's basically the gist of it.
Also I forgot about wisps, which are randomly appearing orbs that spawn that you have to pin and it can give you either extra items, money, chance to befriend Yokai, etc.
>The chances of her being back in 4 are extremely slim
>Worry that she's going to take Usapyon with her
Does Japan just not like otaku characters?
>We need another rival for Pokémon
>We need it to target a market that Pokémon has already completely cornered so that we inevitably get obliterated
Yo-kai Watch never tried to directly compete with Pokemon, and the games are incredibly different from one another and hardly similar in the slightest. It's retarded western game journalists saying that it was some Pokemon killer when it wasn't, and then ViZ decided to run with it like the fucking morons they are, unable to realize without any foresight how wildly bad of an idea that is. The problem now is that whenever you so much as mention Yo-kai Watch people crawl out of the woodwork to shit on it and try and call it a ripoff, even though Pokemon didn't even invent the concept of monster collecting, and weren't even the first ones to do it.
she doesn't deserve Usapyon
Who does he deserve then?
>Let's make a game that just plays like a weekly children anime.
>But how could it appeal to children?
>Just add some quirky monsters, gacha and fun little minigames
There, corrected it for you. If you seriously try to act like it was invented as a real competition to SMT or Pokemon, you're just an idiot. It's a game made for children through and through, no "earthbound quirkiness" or anything like that.
It incoporates stuff popular among Japanese children (beetle catching, gacha, monsters, short, fun minigames) with absolutely normal comedy aspects you will find a lot among children anime.
>>no "earthbound quirkiness" or anything like that.
You clearly have not played any of the games then, especially 3. The games can also be genuinely funny at times, so don't know what you're trying to say. The anime is so wildly different from everything else until Shadowside turned it into just trying to be about action, that it's not generic in the slightest.
>Make a cute girl
>Call it a boy
Why does Japan do this?
I'm talking about the game feeling like an anime. The games are quirky, but just "normal"-quirky, not comparable to Earthbound.
And yes, I played the first one and a bit of the third. I don't even try to hate on the games, just that some people in the fanbase, are seriously trying to oversell them trying to make more out of them, than they really are.
Enjoyable children games - and there's nothing wrong with that.
It's almost like this series gets a ton of needless shit of people describing it objectively wrong and people want to actually talk about the good qualities it has or something.
>been wanting to get into YW for ages
>3DS broken
YW4 is coming this year right?
In Japan, sure.
For us westerners? Who knows.
Are those things supposed to be cute? At least pikachu has its charm, but those things don't have any appeal.
She fucking sucks because she just constantly shits on Usapyon without reason. At least Whisper is legitimately a buffoon and the jokey bit with it is justified.
>That part in the game where she just shoves Usapyon out from in front of the TV
Something about that part in particular just seemed incredibly mean to me. I can see people immediately being turned off by her character just from that.
emulate it my dude
You can't cheat the system clock at all, can you? I've done the basic close the game entirely and then move the clock forward but it apparently could still tell.
Didn't they try to reboot the series to be darker and edgy, but that fucking bombed and now they reboot it back to Nate?
No, you can't cheat the clock, and you'll be locked out of certain daily events like Crank-a-Kai for trying to turn it a day forward.
It didn't bomb. The ratings were stronger than the third season, it's just that merchandise was lacking. They tried to get away from being formulaic and using Keita, but are switching gears back to him now because he's just too recognizable as the protagonist at this point. That's why a lot of stuff in YKW4 recently has shown him.
It's gonna be a switch game right desu?
I'm playing the first game but holy fuck these side quest never end. Find this and Fight that god its so annoying
Fourth game is exclusive to Switch, yes. The gameplay is a mix of Blasters, the action side-game that got incorporated into its own full sub-game in 3 (It was in 2 but not nearly as good or fleshed out) and Ni No Kuni. You can actively switch which character or Yokai you want to play as.
Honestly I would recommend to anyone to skip the first game entirely, because not only is it just not very good compared to the later games, but the beginning of 2 essentially retcons all of its events out of existence. I could copy/paste an entire compiled list of gameplay things from 1 that got changed or removed entirely from the sequels. If you're not digging the combat in 1, then 2 won't fare you much better, and it's been recommend numerous times that it's perfectly fine to start with 3.
How’s the online in 3? It’s not dead already, is it?
Thanks user
ALSO THE FUCK NATE FIGHTS TO
youtube.com
I forgot to mention here that in 3 you basically get this "gun" and you can shoot at Yokai with it to either deal damage or befriend them better.
Also there's an item in 3 that basically acts like a Master Ball, and the Blasters T sub-game is chock full of useful items, like ones that can increase a Yokai's rank, or skyrocket their level.
>Komasan
>not cute
Fucking pleb
>ykw4 is throwing all of that out and is going to use a ni no kuni 2-esque action rpg system where the player character fights alongside their yo-kais.
God dammit.
>cheating the clock
>daylight savings coming up
But we have to, user
You can only cheat it in 1 because the Oni never makes good on his threats. In 2 onward you can't because he does and it locks you out of anything time based for the day.
I’m surprised that Shadowside isn’t talked about at all here
Yea Forums is wholly ignorant to Yokai Watch.
Tell me anons, is Yokai Watch a good game to get for a gril.
probably
The solo was fun to see, the boss was a pretty intense fight, actually had to move around my yokai so they don't fucking die.
The bosses near the end of the game definitely require your full attention. It's cool that you can re-fight harder versions of those bosses too.
Is the Watamote effect, she hit them too close home, she is funny and sadistic at times but that's fine.
how many clones does that cat have geez, noe even pikachu has that many.
How is the Record of the Three Kingdoms/三国志 game?
Koei did a Nobunaga SRPG with Pokemon:Conquest and that was pretty great (with some glaring flaws ousting some 'mons). Is this in the same vein as that? Apart from being an SRPG.
I got Meopatra out of a coin yesterday, she's sooo good. Steals when she does her strong normal attack, has the best healing technique, and her soultimate her her swinging her big butt around to suck the life outta people and share it with her pals.
Best girl.
