The usual culprit for this is kuso, which in terms of usage fuck or shit work great. However, they're both more vulgar in English than kuso is in Japanese. Also many scanlators are actually idiots, and will thus will always pick shit or fuck to make the series seem more "adult."

Looking at CSM they use the word “buddies” instead of “partners” for Himeno and Aki. Also they don’t use swear words for whatever reason even though there are crass characters and copious amounts of gore. Like you can’t say “fuck” in a manga where there is a single page dedicated to someone puking in someone else’s mouth?
