No, what I'm worried about is that in a few years we're going to get another fucking StrikerS. That they won't capitalise on those remaining threads waiting to be resolved because of how disconnected they're going to become with the franchise in those few years away from it, or that people who worked on it originally will be gone, e.g. Kaneko gtfoes and leaves writing to some random fuckface (which is not necessary for the writing to suddenly suck dong, see Nanoha again). That they won't be able to come up with a plot as engaging as the original series had. One thing we can be sure though, is that it's unlikely this is the last we'll hear of this franchise, it might be the end of current gang's story, we might get DMJii as mains or some completely new cast, we might get a spinoff, a prequel, an AU or an interquel if they're dumb enough to go full 3rd impact and close of all doors to a reasonable sequel plot (hello, E7) but they will milk it eventually and it's in franchise's best interest for it to leave its door open for logical follow up - otherwise we're set up for a fate worse than oblivion.

Bikki had about 15 minutes in which she was living her life to the fullest extent that she could dream: using her Geah powers to help others with no worries otherwise.

In S1 she was plagued by internal conflict, survivor's guilt, an insane recklessness, and a need to belong somewhere. She was, in Genjuuro's words, a twisted person. A gaunt, waning, dead person, only alive through the desire to sacrifice oneself.

In G she was tortured again by survivor's guilt.

In the first episode of GX, she could finally fight to save others, with her own problems largely taken care of.

First of all, not every element of the world in a fantasy story has to have a narrative purpose, but also, I don't think many of the gear's character arcs necessarily require ditching the gears. Tsubasa's does maybe. Hibiki's definitely doesn't. It's also a bit of a cop out to "solve" the all the character's problems by destroying the gears for plot reasons, which prevents the characters from finding solutions for their own problems, or solving the hard problem of finding a work/life balance and living a normal life while being a gear user. It also doesn't solve their actual problems. It just sweeps them under a rug to be resolved never. Kiri is still going to be suicidally depressed, with or without her gear.

The adventure can continue without the main cast, you know. This is a brave New world with mysteries and myths popping up left and right. Geahs can find new hosts or an entire new way to deal with threats could emerge.

You don't have to remove every element of your fantasy world as soon as it's not required by the narrative, you know. The default position is to just keep them around. Sure, they don't "need" the gears to finish the story, but you have to explain why destroying the gears adds to the narrative.

Personally I'm just going to accept whatever happens at the end. I've enjoyed this entire ride with all of its crazy turns and twists so I have full trust in the driver, let him surprise me however the fuck he wants to.
