Her genki try-your-best attitude and inspiring presence (enough to kickstart Inui's plan and everything) would've made it really natural for her to volunteer for the job, and the whole "you are the heart of our group and inspired us all to try harder" resolution to the final arc would've felt a lot more tangible with her explicitly having that role for the entire show up to that point.

Then they make it seem like something bad will happen in ep6-7. And something bad does happen (lightning). And then they incorporate that bad thing into their performance in the most retarded way possible, and it becomes the best episode ever.

Even if everyone else were still zombies, it would feel more like a generic idol anime without Tae. You need Tae because she reminds us that we're all zombies. She's our base. She also fuels lot of the stupid shit, like I mentioned in .
I think my absolute favorite aspect of the show is that nobody ever said "Let's leave Tae out of the group". She can't dance in step, she can't sing, she might fuck everything up at a moment's notice. Leaving her out would clearly be the best decision, it would make things so much easier. But no one said it. No one even considered it. They just accepted her as part of the group.
When I watch her stumble around aimlessly onstage during the concerts, that's how I know I'm not watching a regular idol show.
