Actually it brings up something I noticed when I decided to reread Bokuben all in one settings. Rizu and Yuiga are crazy good compatibility with each other. They often have a similar outlook when faced with with a decision. Right from the get go both dismissed the idea of intimate relationships during school a waste of time. On that subject both are pretty dense when it comes to picking up those kind of tells. Yet both are quick to help out others, Rizu didn't need to gather those herbs during the trip, but she did so anyway because they meant a lot to Yuiga and not because she thought it would win her the bowl. Heck their both at the same level when it comes to physical fitness, both sinking like a rock in the pool and staying pace with each other during the marathon. They even petzoned each other, which is nowhere near the same as friendzone. After all you live with your pets, care of them, and don't ask for anything in return except for their valued companionship, which is actually not that far off of how actually relationships work. Even when Ogata accidentally proposes she basically states that they make a good team. And their life goals are even similar. Nariyuki a teacher and Ogata being a psychologist? They're both going to be sensei who work to help other people better understand the world and themselves

But hell, all this could mean absolutely nothing, it's not like authors or lovers always choose lovers based purely on compatibility. Sometimes they even go for the opposites attract and then wonder down the line why they can never see eye to eye on anything.

Early chapters of Fumino made it seem like her dad was someone forceful and intimidating, like she'd never stand up to him (because she never directly confronted the guy who was trying to flirt with her)
the first time we see them together she holds him back from approaching rizu, someone she only converses with in tutoring sessions and only became close with due to Nariyuki. This is not what you would expect someone to be intimidated by her dad. She wants to avoid going home if it means confronting him from the typhoon chapter, but when she finally meets up with him she just confronts him right then and there. why's that? She eventually makes an ultimatum of leaving her house which seems like it's setting up something big.

Then she makes a big deal out of making a big deal look like nothing for no reason, the problem was largely discussed in the last two chapters and only resolved there, making the time they spend at Nariyuki's house doing jack-all worth nothing aside from cheap development. When they go get her clothes because she didn't think her plan through very well because she's a dumb high school girl, they conveniently find a laptop that Reiji hid in a random cupboard instead of in his study or his room because he'd obviously try to crack the password and he'd want to keep it safe, but it's in the cupboard they hide in. How come? It doesn't make sense.

The fact that the video Shizuru wanted to hide is password protected in the first place is contrived and has no real point. Why go through all the hoops? Does she not know anything about how autistic Reiji is? Fumino conveniently knowing the password is also suspect, as with Nariyuki conveniently taking up an interest in astronomy for all of 5 seconds when he brings it up and points at the sky. Nariyuki always wanted to support Fumino, so nothing has changed there. In the end, Fumino is back at her house and it's back to status quo. What an arc indeed.
