I’m joking (kinda), with Lynch you can never interpret anything he does literally. It is interesting how isolated Audrey is from the rest of the plot, though- since she’s the only one whose actor actually got Lynch to rewrite shit specifically for them. I think there’s definitely an element of Lynch being like “are you happy now, you overbearing cunt?”

When they finally go to the Roadhouse she realizes there's nowhere for her story to go because she vetoed the original story, which was that she was supposed to be robbed by Richard instead of her mother, so Lynch punishes her by sending her character to purgatory
