The show is loaded with Evangelion references and thinly veiled fetish fuel, amongst the obvious SJW stuff. Rebecca Sugar herself used to draw R34 of cartoon characters.

Maybe you can prove me wrong with some behind the scenes interviews or something, but the gay wedding scene was at the end of the last season anyways, and before that wedding it was already kind of speeding towards endgame. The only scenario this makes sense to me is something like the writers all demand a gay wedding or they'll all quit, and the executives bowed to them and said, fine but you have to end the show 5 episodes after that because we'll cancel it if you do that. I just don't see that happening, plus it got a sequel series.

two things I like about SU:
1) Rebecca Sugar getting her own show meant she was no longer storyboarding for Adventure Time. her storyboarding team with Adam Muto made some of the worst episodes of seasons 2-5. when she left, Muto became showrunner, and the Sugar/Muto team was replaced by Cole Sanchez/Andy Ristaino who made some good episodes. at any point, AT had four main storyboard teams, so the Sugar/Muto team was making ~1/4 of the AT episodes bad. the show instantly became more consistently good after Steven Universe got picked up.
2) people complain, correctly, that these superheroes keep getting turned into gay black woman trans etc characters. SU sucks, but the crystal gems are *original characters* that are multicultural lesbian superheroes. if the left did this and left classic characters alone, it'd be a better world

I was filtered by how feminine it was. The two male characters are fat and spineless and everyone else is more or less a female. I hear the same thing over and over, that its actually good, but I just cant do it. Maybe its some unresolved internal anger or something but I just couldn't get over it. Also the backgrounds are nice but the characters themselves are hard to look at imo. Both the characters personalities and designs needed more square, less circle.
