In order for Rey to have been given a "sexy" outfit, there would have to have been a completely different creative/production team behind the scenes, one that was more focused on making a good/entertaining movie then on pushing some bullshit agenda. Had that been the case, then there probably would have been a number of other creative and story differences, other then Rey in "sexy" outfit, which could have perhaps sent the sequels down a different, better direction.
