i really enjoyed it, huge fan of edgerton and i found the world-building to be perfect; sparse yet compelling, not sure why it's as hated as it is here.

the kid didn't blow me away acting-wise, but i was tremendously impressed by the brown dude from girls. what the fuck happened to him? he was almost comparable to adam driver in that show, and her performance in this shows he has a lot of potential, so why is his career so dead?

lame

It was only hated because it had an extremely inconsistent and dishonest marketing campaign where it acted like the movie was more along the lines of something like a ghost movie or creature feature, kind of like those shitty Conjuring movies or something. So then a bunch of dumb zoomers went and saw it then thought "boooring".

Guy you’re thinking of is Christopher Abbott, he’s a great actor. I recommend you watch James White. It’s got him in it as the lead and it’s a similarly very very rough movie tone wise and he is fucking phenomenal in it.

It's just another shitty vague "horror" film that's entirely atmosphere and nothing else.

it’s more of a thriller

perfect man, thanks for the rec, love shit like this

oh shit the director of this did martha marcy may marlene, that was alarmingly visceral. super excited to watch this

What was that shit in the woods bros?

Really great movie.
Terrible marketing though.
Go in with the mindset that nothing comes at night and just appreciate the atmosphere.

i come at night too. what makes this movie so special?

A24? More like "What a bore!"

mung daal more like dung ball

I'm a sucker for misery porn when it's earned. This movie earns it.
It Comes At Night is a perfect distillation of the inner conflict experienced by parents, the desire to protect the child at all cost, even if it means denying him all that is light and good, and the guilt that comes with the realization that this was always a futile task. The tragedy that was stingily doled out by A Quiet Place comes in gluttonous portions here, without Hollywood spices of swelling music and hopeful endings to mask the bitter flavor.

went into it knowing zero about the plot, just saw op's pic on this board and thought "damn that's a spooky poster"

really enjoyed it, had a good miserable time

i love how women think, they really live in a bubble of self delusion about their spleen

it was good but i liked krisha more

absolutely forgettable
I saw it, completely sober, when it was released and i cant for the life of me remember what the film was about.

that's called ADHD

It was pretty good. I like bleak movies.

A24 slow burn garbage.
Followed the same formula as any other CHILLBURN
>misleading trailer to trick normies into watching it
>SLOW BURN IT WAS REAL IN MY MIND shit
>dude interracial couple because a24 can't help it
>dude like dreams and mental illness Woah deep DEEEEEEP....

100% agree with you.

imagine being this insecure

Dishonest.

This we need more brutish black men having passionate sex with innocent white women.. Stop being insecure

imagine being this obsessed with black cock

rent free

this man is absolutely correct.

true. thats why most trailers give away the entire plot so that people are not 'fooled' into watching something they dislike. that way, negative reviews and shitstorms are avoided.

I remember thinking it was shit but I can't remember a thing about it.

It was very good, and I commend them for going for the downer ending.

This opinion coming from Yea Forums is basically a guarantee that a film is good - thanks for the recommendation!

Soi horror garbage
Dude it's slow and it was all a dream lol

Attached: soi5g.jpg (2500x2500, 2.49M)

It was great. I felt the world took place in a DayZ style world or shoot on sight since the world was so unforgiving.
Has anyone seen Waves by the same director? It looks like its advertised as more of a family drama than anything.

Forgot pic.

i just watched a movie with him and jon bernthal on netflix. i think it was called sweet virginia. movie was kind of derivative but the performances were good.

>It looks like its advertised as more of a family drama than anything.
because it is

infuriatingly misleading marketing
makes me think it's a kino monster movie
it is not

>that skelly wearing a human face mask in the lower right
i could spend all day looking at this painting

Plaguekino

But is it good though.

yes
in fact this movie is his least good despite also being very good, his other two are far far better

krisha, his first film, is an interesting one. it's in part based on a real event from his real life, and even has members of his real family starring in it and uses his parents' real home as the location. he kickstarted it and shot it with a budget of around 10k, and made it look really fucking good despite that.

curious what kino horror is to the person that made this

I don't call films 'kino' for starters, I'm not a post 2016 tourist redditor

the last version of this image was funnier

People that post this type of shit dont enjoy anything, at least they dont admit it to others. They only find insulting other's interests enjoyable because they are so irony poisoned that, to them, liking things is reddit.

Did the kid open the door?

no way, the lock was too high. I think the black guy sleepwalked

>white dad
>black mom
>kid comes out darker than the mom
?

>black guy with a dog

unrealistic imo, even if his dad was white it seemed dishonest to me

>Only living people for thousands of miles
>Kid still isn't yours
Fucking women, am I right?

>NOOOOOOOOO NOT MY BABY

essential "nothing fucking happens"core

if you have a low attention span maybe

well first, its trolling

but what the list leaves out is cheesy monster movies with lots of pointless jump scares.

Those kind of movies are based though

solid movie, I kinda like it

I come all day, also boring ass movie.

it stinks

It is very dull and hamfisted.

Best movie of the decade.

nothing happened, it was gay and trannypilled.
anyone that liked it should promptly go back to le retardddit or instanigger and fuck off forever

Very good movie if you're not expecting zombies and action

So what actually came at night? Paranoia and distrust?

rapefugies and corona virus

the nigger when he dreamed about the dude's wyte wife

>dream sequences

dropped

Turns out what came at night was the friends we made along the way.
Unironically though "it" was fear. They were always scared

Anyone else think the black kid was going to have sex with the white woman and that would be the underlying conflict for the final act of the film?

if they had advertised it as a post-apocalyptic thriller about two families coming into contact while trying to avoid a pandemic, I would have enjoyed it as well have been pleasantly surprised and intrigued at the hints of supernatural elements behind the scenes

but instead it was clickbait: the movie. whoever did advertising needs to be blacklisted

I thought the two men were going to kill each other and the white woman and the son were going to be the new synthesis couple
>hints of the supernatural
That went over my head. What hints?

whatever killed Stanley and Andrew's drawings at the end, as well as the multiple camera shots that look like the POV of something stalking the house

I too thought this. It was at least implied that he viewed her in a sexual fashion

It was a miserable ride all the way through and the ending was just awful

Oh, I thought they were just supposed to be traumatised kid's dreams of people in gas masks. I mean you could be right but it doesn't add anything to have monsters in my opinion.

man, where's waldo took a really dark turn

Which makes sense, she was the first woman not related to him he'd seen in god knows how long

Don't know why I laughed so hard at that but good one, lad

the biggest subversion was that he wasn't up in her guts 5 minutes after meeting her like every other movie these days

I fucking loved it, but its not a movie for people who dont enjoy a more subtle and slow burning thriller. I also remember it being marketed as a pure horror kind of shlock which it isn't and that got it some undeserved hate.

A movie not half as good as its poster.

oh I know, that's my point. You can take it different ways, but the film is ultimately about two feuding and desperate families first and foremost.

It's like True Detective. First and foremost, that's a story about two extremely different men and the story of how their friendship feel apart as they dismantled a criminal ring/cult. However, as the series goes along, you get the sense that there might be SOMETHING beneath the surface of the cult, and that the detectives are in over their heads. But the series was NEVER advertised as "Mconaughey and Harrerlson fight Cthulu", nor was it ever truly about that, and so no one felt cheated.

That's my point- this was advertised as a horror about something in the woods stalking a family, when in reality it's a straight thriller about families fighting during a pandemic, with the ever so slight implication that something else might be watching them - or not, it's not important to the main plot. They should have just advertised it as what it was.

Oh yeah, 100%. That's a good analogy too because even if there was no supernatural element the whole film has that hopeless Lovecraftian edge to it that you don't see a lot of the time in film.
Advertising ruins so many films, this was just another one of them.

Most overrated horror movie I've watched in years. I have no idea why Yea Forums liked it. I liked The Witch and other such horror movies recommended here but this one was, in my opinion, just trash.

this painting has a berserk vibe

Attached: 1570637878357.jpg (480x512, 42K)

>mixed-race son is darker than the mom and looks 10 times more black

The movie is rarely talked about and rarely recommended in threads. How can you say it's overrated? The movie has to at least be somewhat popular to be overrated and this is not at all popular
