Why does Orca looks less like an orca now than she did pre-flahspoint?

Being dead for 11 years changes a person.

I like her more now. She looks cool and monstrous where a lot of depictions of her old look just had her looking like a big bald strongfat lady.

>just had her looking like a big bald strongfat lady.
Yes

that was injustice, they were... really weird when it came to her design.

This new one recognizes she's supposed to be a beast, tho the fangs feel a bit off.

that's not even a big bald strongfat lady, that's a weird mix of curvy and muscular which is fine I guess

old Orca was fine but when she's drawn like old orca sometimes she just looks like she's in a costume

Artist don't know how to draw an orca woman.
Same goes for Rocket Racoon. Every artist seems to draw him vastly different. And most he doesn't look anything like a racoon.
I honestly think artist here in Yea Forums draw orca better than DC artists.

orca makes me happy

>she just looks like she's in a costume
She was, at least at first. The art in her initial appearance was weird and it was only revealed to be a costume right at the end, so no one really remembered it so in the 2 other times she popped(one of which was as a background character in last laugh) up they just used her costume design for her. The thing is she only ever had two major appearances pre flashpoint and one of them was as a half-eaten corpse.

Just give this guy a 6 issue mini already DC.

Animal characters can be hard for anyone not used to them so a lot of artists just sorta do their own thing without worrying about fine details. It's why characters like beast and rocket seem to have different anatomy in every other book.

Probably for the same reason the Cadburys Caramel Bunny went from a regular rabbit to a voluptuous humanoid

What is orca even doing now? The punchline side story had her in jail after she was set up but there was also the king shark book which had her out doing her own thing before returning to the support group we saw in Nightwing.

I guess she's doing absolutely nothing.

The King Shark mini came out after so I just prefer to believe she's back there.

I think that King Shark mini fucking sucked.

>She looks cool and monstrous

>This new one recognizes she's supposed to be a beast

Yes, she looks like a "beast" and a "monster"... But she doesn't look like a whale. She looks like the pop culture misconception of a T-Rex painted black and white with a trout fin glued to her neck.

Attached: 1602194834034.jpg (1200x675, 79.03K)

Probably just don't want her to look like a street shark

>Probably just don't want her to look like a street shark
But that would be jawesome...

You're mad they got rid of her tits aren't you

Attached: tumblr_p6f8hhOrSE1uc8x6so1_1280.png (619x460, 380.28K)

No because they still kept them.

I want to pork-a the Orca.

She's not an anthro whale though, she's a human with orca features. Transient's stuff is cute and all but they just draws her like a furry.

Don't worry, with the Discovery purge we may get breast appreciators replacing the nu-puritans, but as said, they're still there just more reallistic (musculature)

>she's a human with orca features
Lipless mouths with jagged stalactite teeth are not a feature of orcas.

>Discovery purge

I give it a pass largely thanks to how expressive she is. It's bordering an indulgent furry design for me but honestly a tiny bit of that doesn't bother me for her because by conception she's a lady that turns into a weird busty whale hybrid.

Ultimately she's just a big lady with big-but-not-gag boobs too so it's not quite "This character is basically just my fetish realized but I swear I want to tell a serious story plz plz"

>She's not an anthro whale though, she's a human with orca features
Are you blind?

Attached: Nightwing and Orca.png (666x666, 133.08K)

>they just draws her like a furry.
WHICH IS THE RIGHT WAY TO DO IT.
Seriously, normalize Anthro in Big 2 comics.

I guarantee comics would sell more if this happened, if only for the fact that furry porn artists are objectively more skilled than the monkeys who trace poser models to make capeshit.

She got fully transformed into a whale woman after taking a double hit of the whale juice.

Warner Media is merging with Discovery and they are cleaning house with all the Warner properties and management

this, also that includes DC

Comic orca is about as whalelike as Killer croc is croclike. Transient just gives her a whale head.

hey buddy you can't do that

this is a blue board

The things I would do to that caramel bunny. I would certainly creme her eggs...

You say that, but a surprising number of furries can't draw humans for shit.

One of my favorite ideas from these threads is that Orca starts an OnlyFans but none of the furries are interested in her because her body doesn't fit anyone's idealized whale anthro form. And then she gets a bunch of attention from the cripple fetishists when she posts a pre-Orca picture of herself.

Problem is furry artists make everything too soft, which doesn't work well for superheroes.

Croc gets a croc head sometimes. If there's one thing that's consistent it's that beast characters aren't consistent.
I think it's good. Makes her look different while staying emotive. Good for the tone of their stuff at least.

Nice. Good use of a ban.

Playing around the fragile charade that she is no longer a wheelchair-bound small blonde

running out of pictures from the relatively-speaking brief span of time she was crippled and having to start using pictures of her normal self sitting down and hoping nobody notices the difference

Honestly, it's not even a matter of skill but basic passion. The guy who does that ratbird comic is clearly an amateur but he still has the drive and imagination to make a fun comic. Fuck Id even take the guy behind JACK over shitters like Larroca

>What if I recreate my whale serum with human dna, thus turning me back into a paraplegic blonde so I could take more pics and pass them off as older photos? Delightfully devilish, Grace!

>but the good ones
Get more money from commissions/patreon than any publisher will be willing to pay them.
Have no deadlines outside of paying bills.
Are 50% airbrushers, which isn't great for printed works, and can't do pencils/inks as they rely on the shading to do the heavy lifting.
Might not draw humans.
>okay get a mediocre one
Can't draw humans.
Is motivated solely by drawing sex or specifically male OR female characters.
Can't draw dynamic posing.
Can't draw characters at more than a few angles.
Can't colour/shade.
Can't draw more than one hyper-idealised body type (sometimes draws males and females with the SAME body type), often with numerous anatomical errors.
Gets as bad as weeb artists with anatomy shortcuts.
Can't draw PASSABLE hands in dynamic poses.

Your choice of image is also a head scratcher. I don't know what 2000AD does nowadays but I can't figure out why Americans can't hire the same kind of artists as they did or at least train them to gitgud. Flipping through the Dredd casefiles I just can't believe how much effort goes into panelling (and the drawings in general, even with the... less good artists that have an endearing way around a pen), it's unlike anything I can find elsewhere and spoils me for reading any modern American stuff which feels like 90% of the page is margin or gradient fill. It's hard to find a proper example but image related sort of shows it.

That makes zero sense which is what I've come to expect from posters on this shit site.
>bro let me vomit some bullshit corporate terms and LARP as a hollywood insider

Yes please
Post big 2 Anthros

This is pretty public knowledge. Corporate restructuring happens a lot with big mergers

>transient
i will now watch your thread

I don't know man, looks sex to me

Original orca looks like one of those inflatable T-Rex costumes.

Shitty lazy artists wanting to make her Shark Girl. It really is that simple. You even get it on Yea Forums.

I imagine she's in sitting in her crappy apartment, eating chinese food

what are the chances someone competent gets put in charge

Attached: 1636513905211.jpg (889x2492, 809.77K)

Even at her size she wouldn't need 5 rotisserie chickens worth of calories a meal.

i think it'd be fun seeing her frustrated trying to using chopsticks
now i'm imagining her as a delivery girl/whale for a chinese restaraunt

>My parents aren't whale people

I loved that bit

She's literally an anthro whale.

Attached: Nightwing_Vol_4_12_Textless_Variant.jpg (250x379, 26.12K)

You sure?
Orca is pretty massive, I would assume she needs to take in a lot of calories each day.

This version of Orca is so far my favorite one.

her design is making Orca to look larger, monstrous & an muscular body that it's almost looking a bit masculine-like shape.

meritocracy is all but dead in america so pretty slim

This is my favorite design/drawing of Orca. Orcas are great hunters in the wild, great gimmick. Should Orca become an Iceberg Lounge bouncer/enforcer? I like the idea of Penguin sympathizing with her condition given his own self-image issues
