He's a good kid, very active and I like how he is almost never lazy on offense and defense. Inbounds the ball and when he sees a fast break opportunity he takes it. But the problem is that he can't create his own shot consistently yet, gonna need Harden and role players to step up to give him the chance to get better scoring opportunities

I ain’t forget /nba/ having quite a ruckus last night about Ayton only being good offensively in last years playoffs because he was being “spoonfed easy looks in front of the rim.”
He absolutely dominated the Pelicans in the paint in the first round, and only 20% of his shot attempts came within 3 feet.
Ayton’s efficiency by range (80 fga):
0-3 feet: 87.5% (14-16)
3-10 feet: 73.1% (19-26)
10-16 feet: 60.9% (14-23)
16 feet-3pt: 63.6% (7-11)
3pt: 50% (2-4)
Ayton has been nothing short of phenomenal offensively so far in the playoffs, and he has done it while having an extremely low percentage of his baskets at the rim compared to normal. He stepped up in a big way when Booker went down.

before we got harden and while simmons was out he and joel were a good pnr team, obviously that is still much better with harden, but without a real creator yeah it's just true that maxey isn't much in halfcourt. we were also playing a decent bit faster before we got harden as a result of this (and because that was how the team worked with simmons playing ofc). maxey has all the athletic tools to be a guard that creates for himself, just needs to work on it. last offseason he became an elite shooter so this is his next step, hope to see it happen
