What's Yea Forums's issue with Edgar Wright? His catalogue is pretty original, entertaining popcorn flicks.
>Spaced
>Shaun Of The Dead
>Hot Fuzz
>Scott Pilgrim v The World
>The World's End
>Baby Driver
Edgar Wright
Hes my favorite after Kevin Smith
mmmm action comedy movies... my favorite!
since Yea Forums is just reddit with tripfags, it's a reddit problem.
r/movies seems to love him. Some people have soured on him because they prefer his British stuff over Baby Driver, but he's generally liked.
r/movies is just Yea Forums with nicknames
>What's Yea Forums's issue with Edgar Wright?
I've never witnessed this
Apparently he's reddit-core, but if his movies are quality, why would anyone care about reddit's opinion on him?
Well he's a total leftist piece of shit for one. But then again anyone who isn't Chris Pratt or Tim Allen is.
ah-bloo-bloo
years ago i used to be a huge edgar wright fan but when you start watching the films that influenced him you realize he's competent but not exactly a revelation. he also needs a cowriter which is why baby driver was such a disappointment.
I've enjoyed all of his movies and Hot Fuzz is absolute kino.
His next project is going to be a horror movie so I'm excited what he's going to do.
starring Anya
Scott Pilgrim is his only good movie
His only good one is A Fistful of Fingers, and you didn't list it. Maybe our issue is that his fans are turboplebs.
It's a mediocre student film. You're trying too hard.
Because being liked by reddit indicates the NATURE of what you're offering, which in his case is cack.
>It's a mediocre student film.
That's right, the rest of his work is far worse than that. You're not trying hard enough.
Pleb.
>What's Yea Forums's issue with Edgar Wright?
Alexei Sayle's Merry-Go-Round was far beneath the level of Alexei Sayle's Stuff and The All New Alexei Sayle Show, and Wright's direction is largely responsible for that. Sayle does some really good, downbeat stuff in that series, and it's buried by this attention-seeking setpiece approach to direction. Anyone who storyboards when they're working on a vehicle for a stand-up needs a smack in the face.
Found the pleb.
Can't speak for reddit, but I only saw Hot Fuzz all the way through and I found it horribly unfunny, like 99% of Millennial comedies.
Saw parts of SotD, also thought it wasn't funny. Obnoxious editing too.
Baby Drive: literally watched about one minute of it and the moment the faggot lead character starts dancing in his car to crappy music I turned the channel.
There's just something insincere about Millennial filmmaking. Everything is a joke, a meme, or some meta commentary on other movies, and I'm sick of it.
Honestly, Tarantino is to blame.
What movies do you find funny? Name 2-3.
You lookin at the mirror babyboy?
Sounds you have a severe case of the autism
He didn't do enough to prevent Simon Pegg from taking all the credit for writing Spaced when all the funny, human, relatable stuff was written by Jessica Stevenson.
His style is gimmicky, mirthless and heavy-handed, and reminiscent Michael Bay, or the ads you see before they put the movie on. A movie shouldn't remind me of a commercial.
His first movie is chock-full of racist jokes and barely-ironic sexism.
He wants to be American so fucking badly, only Matthew Vaughn is more craven in his suckling of Uncle Sam's musty chode.
I'm not convinced he understands what comedy is, just facetiousness.
>His first movie is chock-full of racist jokes and barely-ironic sexism.
examples?
I think The World's End was pretty mature. Have you seen that one?
>What movies do you find funny? Name 2-3.
Office Space
A couple of the Sellers Pink Panther movies
Dumb and Dumber
The Naked Gun
>His style is gimmicky, mirthless and heavy-handed, and reminiscent Michael Bay
Whole post is a joke but there is no point in reading after this. There is literally no comparison between their styles.
I guess it's just a generational thing then.
I've seen 3 of these and I prefer Wright's movies.
So excited for his new horror movie. The dude lives and dies for Hammer, Bava and Argento.
>it's just a generational thing
It's not. I like all those movies that user posted as well as the Edgar Wright movies. It's all about what makes you laugh.
Baby Driver was shit and Yea Forums hated it but everybody said it was great so that made Yea Forums hate it even more
i wonder if wright wakes up every morning and thanks god that baby driver opened and made its money mere months before spacey went down.
The whole thing? A Fistful of Fingers is a Western made in 1995 that does the whole "redskin" thing with zero context, irony or apology. That this is in a comedy makes it worse.
Self-pity isn't maturity.
Of course there is. Maybe Tony Scott's nearer, but it's still an action style, not essentially a comic one.
He's not trying to do comedy any more? Good idea. His horror movie will be shit, though. Have you heard his commentary tracks? They're just him listing ripped-off sources for every idea in every scene. He's a tumblr blog, not an auteur.
There was a photo on Ansel Elgort's instagram where he was standing with Spacey and the caption was "stay away from me kevin spacey"
Lots of people made VHS-edited amateur movies in their teens, but most people weren't privileged English public schoolboys.
lmao and you know elgort's his type too
says the tripnig
LE MEME! LE MEME! XD!
>listing ripped-off sources for every idea in every scene
Yea in the industry we cal this "being a filmmaker"
baby driver is his only bad film
I like his movies. Zoomers won't understand that you had to be an adult or at least a teen when they first came out to really enjoy them.
Who?
The onyl movie of his I really really like is Scott Pilgrim desu. Hot Fuzz is also good but not as much
Anya Taylor Joy
People were racist and sexist in the cowboy days? That's unacceptable man. Go back to Tumblr.
>t.incel
Are you me?
I found Scott pilgrim more insufferable than baby driver.
