The show gave the impression that ARS patients themselves emit dangerous levels of radiation, and that the plastic sheets around them are to protect visitors. In reality this is false, and the sheets are to protect the patients because they're immunocompromised.
(And no, the show wasn't just presenting this as the view of uninformed hospital staff, it's endorsed by Ulana Khomyuk in that scene where she drags Ignatenko's qt wife away and scolds everyone.)

In the Chernobyl podcast (ep 3 I believe) Craig Mazin said he didn’t want to go over the top with the tragedy etc to the point where it felt like the show was being too overdramatic and began to take viewers out of the experience.

I'm sure they must have had a whole lot of various ideas for the clean up that they did not cover in the series, but much like the idea about shooting the graphite off of the roof, there might have been fears of spreading radioactive materials from the building collapsing (particles carried by dust, graphite getting flown around, etc). I also imagine demolition work could have posed a risk for damaging the fourth reactor's foundation, and negate the miners' efforts.
They did eventually build a sarcophagus around the damaged building, but even that construction effort required the graphite to be cleared off of the roof.

You have to give those people that did it credit. It’s hard pill to swallow that what your doing will either very likely kill you or give you cancer in the long term but they still did it. The work they did prevented that whole region from being contaminated.

There's lots of graphite laying around. Graphite is a hard material. Coat the broomsticks in graphite to make them harder and less likely to break. On the tip of each broomstick you can put some of the nuclear fuel lying around because it's already hot and will just melt the graphite off the roof. This isn't difficult and just shows how much more big brained humanity has evolved since Chernobyl because I was easily able to come up with this and they couldn't a century ago

I'm a software engineer and have been trying to find a way I could somehow get into nuclear engineering with it, but there isn't really a solid route in. Plus I've talked to SE's who already work on reactor control software and they make as much as I do already, so it wouldn't even be an upgrade in terms of salary. Not worth the 4 more years of college

But the vast majority of the effort in something like Paper's Please is going to be on the pixel art, which I am no artist. I could recreate paper's please with shitty MS paint art in a weekend, but to actually make it look good requires a keen artist's touch
