He fucking did it. Shame on all of you for not having a thread. If there was one earlier, I missed it. It's time to celebrate.

Much like those honorary degrees they give to celebrities, he didn't really earn it or deserve it
David Lynch is a hack. Twin Peaks past season 1 is terrible. His movies passed Straight Story have been shit!
>awards now matter
Worse than just not earning it, they're a polite way of telling them to just die already.
who the hell even cares, they didn't give him one for his movies, this is a cringey "at least you tried!" award. He should stay home
>hack
>all movies he made after x is bad
So 2 movies? Even then, Mullholland Drive is universally acclaimed which puts you in the very small minority.
Oh shit, you're not lying:
pitchfork.com
Straight Story was his best movie
He looks vaguely like John Wayne in this pic, does anybody else see this?
MODS WHERES THE FUCKING STICKY
>caring about the oscars
top pleb. i know he did that stunt for laura dern but he probably doesn't give af about receiving one himself
have sex
>His movies passed Straight Story have been shit!
All two of them?
>imagine being this much of an anti-social degenerate that you can't even be happy for your fellow man
How do you do this without it being flagged as spam?
Tagging individual posts is not spam. Tagging the same post over and over is spam.
But when I do this with individual posts I always get blocked for spam.
Cuz u a amateur.
Watch this be spam
Nobody cares about the academy since 2002 you old boomer.
John Wayne was a fag
based and redpilled
>he thinks anyone "earns" an oscar
It's all just politics and payola
It's gonna feel weird saying Oscar winner David Lynch but man it's rewarding. He's been snubbed at least twice at the Oscars. Not to mention being snubbed at the emmys twice as well. He deserves this more than anyone.
This is accurate since there were 2 movies since Straight Story. One was universally acclaimed as the best piece of film ever and the other was Lynch wacking off with a handheld camera for 2 hours.
This.
Why is it so dead?
I cant imagine david cares much about this
He's gonna give a speech about TM
I think he does care for motion pictures just enough to not make most of his speech about TM. In fact I think he will be on stage for less than 25 seconds.
based
Hope he dabs on the academy and on a press release tells them to fuck off for not even giving Sheryl Lee or Ray Wise nominations for Fire Walk With Me
Wow all this time I thought Elephant Man actually won best picture in 1980
I havent watched a Lynch film. Whats some good films to watch?
Wrong, the actually talented directors and visionary auteurs didnt receive oscars, there is tons of example not only Lynch. Academy Awards voters have very basic and mainstream taste, yes they won't vote for some big blockbuster, but they will vote for basic and mainstream drama, with script u can easily follow, thats how it is. And Lynch best recognition is his work and the mark he left in cinema.
Twin peaks was a retarded version of River's Edge.
Straight Story is great movie obviously and fantastic example of Lynch talent as a director, with such a basic and generic road script lesser director could made oversentimental boring shit, he made film with soul and heart which transcendent, not his best at all,, his best are Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, Fire Walk With Me and Blue Velvet, but still fantastic movie.
He already won the Palme d’Or, which he seems to care more about than an Academy Award. I think in his book he said it was one of proudest moments of his life.
he won two, one for best movie, and one for best director. I still happy that he will be recognized by Academy, he deserves it.
I might be late but..
>Best
Blue Velvet
Elephant Man
Eraserhead
>Damn Fine Movie
Fire walk with Me
Straight Story
>Good
Mullholland Drive
Lost Highway
>had potential but meh
Dune
Inland Empire
>Fucking stupid
Wild at Heart
>Kino
The Grandmother
>Beyond Kino comprehension
Ronnie Rocket
>honorary
It's a literal pat on the back and "nice try though".
It's fucking nothing, lol.
Awesome, now if they could actually fund a fucking project of his.
An Oscar is an Oscar. He will forever be known as "Academy Award winner David Lynch" and not whatever it is you're trying to downplay. Hitchcock didn't get an Oscar until the end so it's not the first time brilliance was overlooked.
Fuck him and his degenerate crap. I hope he dies before he gets it.
based Lynch
I've not been on 4c for years.
But Yea Forums still is as stupid as it ever was.
Look at the list of the recipients. It's a who's who of the most influential artists and craftspeople in the history of film. An award like that has more meaning than their yearly circle wank.
Why put Elephant Man or Eraserhead over Fire Walk with Me or Mulholland Drive?
Literally who?
I think Eraserhead is groundbreaking and the purist form of a motion picture. It literally defines moving art and still manages to have a relatively easy to follow story while still being an exaggerated piece of abstract fiction. Visually stylistic, haunting sounds, characters that suck you in and an atmosphere so uneasy and dreamlike yet inviting and nostalgic. The ability to capture something that's so far beyond our reality it makes you wonder what and how a person's mind can come up with these ideas. I can't even call it pretentious because Lynch never uses these abnormal ideas to impress people, A lot of times it scares away audiences but it's him just following his gut and choosing to adapt whatever comes into his unhinged mind.
There is nothing pretentious about Lynch, you can see that even if his more mainstream movies how much heart, honesty and soul they all have.
Bump
>basic and generic road script
It's a very unusual script, why do you keep saying this shit?
He doesn't really like movies / films. LYNCHED.
>put Elephant Man and Eraserhead over FWWM and Mulholland Drive
>cite Ronnie Rocket as ultimate kino above all
>not Ronny Rocket when you're stuck in the '70s era of Lynch
Based. I rewatched Blue Velvet the other day and I was surprised to see how satisfying its ending felt. The romance between Jeffrey and Sandy is truly the purest Lynch ever wrote.
I'd rather see him getting an Emmy for TP:TR
