well, again, it *seems* like they're bossing the majority around, because they're bossing the media around. But most people still don't buy it. I live in a pretty metropolitan area (D.C.), and barely ever see ANY trannies; and this is even one of the more stereotypically gay friendly cities, come to think of it. There just aren't that many actual trannies out there, though right now there are LOTS of young people going through a tranny "phase". This is going to be a very embarrassing era for lots of people, not unlike america's hippie phase.

There are so few TGs period. Less than 1% of the population in the US, and thats being rather generous by counting not to just MTF trannies (which is what you're really looking for, be honest) but also FTMs, intersex and all manner of individuals who just refuse to identity as male or female.

So out of this already very small pool in a society that is increasingly tolerant but not exactly encouraging of (not commentary by me on the situation, just description) you've got really niche pool of A) interested in acting B) successful at acting/talented and C) importantly if we're talking about hollywood, is photographs well (which is different from merely being sexually attractive, a common misconception) and is marketable.

Its always going to be a small pool. Even in thailand where tgs are completely normal and a very significant percentage of the population (ive seen varying numbers from 5% to 10%, whatever the case actually is, its clearly a hell of a lot more than the west) there is only a few transgender actor/actresses AFAIK.

If you want to watch trannies on film so badly, the porn industry provides lol and is apparently one of the most profitable genres relative to how small their "talent" pool is.
