I don't see what's wrong with his take? If you disclose that you haven't watched the entire movie, it's fine to just express your opinions on the scenes you did watch. It makes sense that you could get enough info from only part of a movie to get a good just of it or just to realize that watching more of the movie would be a waste of time. That's especially important if you watch a shit ton of movies like he does. I also watch a lot of movies and you eventually know how to snuff out uninteresting or uninsightful movies from watching part of it
