>Felix and Calhoun, the deuteragonists of the previous film, are in the movie for roughly ninety seconds
Jesus Christ, what the hell was Disney smoking when they made this? This is quite possibly the worst non-direct to video sequel they've done and I say this as somebody who absolutely ADORED the first Wreck-It Ralph - It was the movie that got me back into Disney after having lost interest around the early 2000s. The only worthwhile parts of this were the Disney Princess sequences, and they could've just made those an unrelated animated short or something.
Ralph has saved Vanellope's life, her game, her game's citizens, made it possible to cure her glitched state...

>I say this as somebody who absolutely ADORED the first Wreck-It Ralph - It was the movie that got me back into Disney
I am in a similar boat OP, Wreck it Ralph 1 is seriously one of my favourite films. 2 shits all over it and it's pretty terrible. There are some enjoyable parts, but I think that's more because I like the world and characters which were established in the 1st film.
Wreck it Ralph 2 does little right. I could sit here and criticise a bunch of shit but honestly I'll just say I'd rather not have watched it.
I wish I could unsee it.
Agreed. The first Wreck it Ralph is one of my favorite films ever so I just like to pretend that the second one isn’t canon, especially with how out of character Ralph acts.
Note to self.
If your going through a divorce, don't incorporate that into a kids movie.
Trailers convinced me to see it. I regret that decision very much.
Weren't they given a week rather than a day to save the game? If it's a day then the timeline in the film is even more retarded than I thought it was.
As for Felix and Calhoun, they were the deuteragonists of the 1st film, so I don't mind them having a lesser presence in the sequel. The problem is that WiR2 didn't introduce any new worthwhile characters, so their absence felt more pronounced because they're far, far more interesting than anything WiR2 cooks up.
Shank is cool, but she's a very generic protag in a very generic game. There's not enough actual character there at all. Bland and uninspired, Slaughter Race feels like a complete stopgap place and not one they put a lot of thought into. Imagine my surprise when it turns out it's where Vanellope's moving and a place they seemingly want to keep around.
This lack of thought kind of extends to the film as a whole, as they throw away key concepts from the 1st, make a completely superficial representation of the internet that doesn't have the same level of care as their take on videogames, mishandle characterisation, blatantly retread key moments from the first film, have their entire movie revolve around videogame characters somehow earning real cash which they never completely explain, create a nonsensical "virus" and force in an area that is literally just Disney as an Organisation promoting themselves in a film by themselves that you "paid" them to watch. I could go on. It's really not a story worth telling, and I think the fact a bunch of people in this thread feel similarly and just wish they hadn't seen it speaks volumes. It's good if you don't care I guess.
I should stop posting about WiR2, this was just going to be a short post but I can't help it
>Weren't they given a week rather than a day to save the game? If it's a day then the timeline in the film is even more retarded than I thought it was.
Pretty sure it was a day (or a night, rather). I mean, wouldn't Ralph be missed in Fix-It Felix Jr. if the arcade was open?
Another dumb thing I just remembered:
>Vanellope moves to Slaughter Race and Shank adds her code to the game (however the fuck that works).
>Here's hoping the developers of Slaughter Race don't notice that Vanellope is now a character in their game, wonder how the fuck that happened, and purge her immediately since they didn't put her in there and don't want to be sued by the developers of Sugar Rush.
>wouldn't Ralph be missed in Fix-It Felix Jr. if the arcade was open?
Yeah but you're making the mistake of thinking this film cares about things established in the 1st. Vanellope basically goes Turbo at the end and abandons her game, something which is vilified constantly in the 1st
As for dumb things, that's only one of many in WiR2.
It sounds like a decent moral
>don't be clingy, don't feel obligated to sacrifice your dreams to make someone else happy, etc
executed in a terrible way.
>immediately since they didn't put her in there and don't want to be sued by the developers of Sugar Rush.
Pretty sure the company got bankrupted that's why the steering wheel was on eBay.
>Vanellope basically goes Turbo at the end and abandons her game, something which is vilified constantly in the 1st
...Oh yeah, huh? Actually, that would've been a nice moment at some point when they're arguing in the movie.
>"Leave Sugar Rush? Do you hear yourself, Vanellope? That... that's going Turbo! You're no better than King Candy!"
>"Shut up, Ralph!"
>"No!"
>Pretty sure the company got bankrupted that's why the steering wheel was on eBay.
Eh, I dunno, I've heard stories of people or companies coming out of nowhere to sue someone else over ownership of one thing or another. But even if being sued isn't a concern, maybe they just simply don't want Vanellope in their game.
Moving from a G rated game to mature game.
So is Vanellope conker
I wish it never existed. what a waste of time and money.
>Ralph has saved Vanellope's life, her game, her game's citizens, made it possible to cure her glitched state, has always been there for her, been her closest friend for years, done everything for her, even risked death for her on two separate occasions ... "I HATE YOU RALPH YOU'RE SUCH A BAD FRIEND I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN"
she's like 9 of course shes dramatic
>Ralph and Vanellope have a single night to buy the steering wheel while the arcade is closed but they're apparently gone long enough for Ralph and co. to think up, film, and release dozens of videos that all become viral sensations, which takes a hell of a lot longer than a couple hours - and that's ignoring all the adventuring they do before and after Ralph's videos
imagine being this autsitic, it's obviously a comedic exaggeration on how fast things go viral and change someones life
>Felix and Calhoun, the deuteragonists of the previous film, are in the movie for roughly ninety seconds
good, there were already too many characters
>it's obviously a comedic exaggeration on how fast things go viral and change someones life
Hey, the movie itself is the one shoving the ticking clock aspect down our throats the whole time. You can't do "We're running out of time! We have to hurry!" AND "The progression of time doesn't matter because it's funny!"
>don't feel obligated to sacrifice your dreams to make someone else happy
While, yes, "Don't sacrifice your dreams for others" is a good lesson, you also don't want to take it to the extreme with "Be a fucking asshole and destroy years-long friendships because you 'want something more out of life.'" Vanellope was being just as shitty a friend as Ralph was, but only Ralph had a lesson to learn because... uhh... he's the man and thus automatically wrong, I guess?
Also, with her leaving for Slaughter Race and Sugar Rush up and running again back at the arcade, does Vanellope think her absence won't put the game in jeopardy at some point? It'd be like if Mario wasn't in Mario Kart. Eventually people are gonna notice and start complaining.
Wait what? Explain please I'm curious now
Not the user who posted that, but I'm gonna go ahead and guess he means that the writer(s) of Wreck-It Ralph 2 were going through a divorce when they were writing it which is what inspired the "break up" story between Ralph and Vanellope.
imagine if this won the oscar instead of into the spiderverse
heck the fact that this was even nominated for an oscar is damning
you think Vanellope should have stayed?
Honestly I've no idea why people put any weight into any of these awards anymore.
>implying this qt can do anything wrong
Not necessarily, but she shouldn't have been blaming Ralph for anything when all he was doing was trying to help her (prior to the whole virus thing). All he knew was that she was bored with racing the same three tracks and he was trying to help her fix her game, but then she kept shouting at him like he was a piece of shit and calling her life with him boring and dumb, which is honestly a really shitty thing to do to someone who's supposedly your best friend (and literal life-saving hero). While yes, Ralph needed to learn to let Vanellope move on in life if she wanted, Vanellope needed to learn she had been acting rather horrible to Ralph, which she didn't.
Did she shout at him before the virus thing? I don't recall that
>wir2 thread
Y'know, I warned you guys it was going to suck, way back in the D23 announcement when they made such a huge deal about how all the disney princess VAs were gonna be in it.
I said then that the movie would be obnoxiously self congratulatory and ham fisted in its wokeness. And you told me I was being paranoid, Yea Forums,
desu i think her leaving is still a shitty thing and it was also just forced in for no real reason. years of it, could have handled it differently
user I used to think you were just a shitposter but now I think you just don't want to be reminded this exists and so you dislike the threads
I'm sorry user
>Did she shout at him before the virus thing?
There was the bit where she was mad at him for "spying" on her - Even though he was trying to legitimately call her on the phone and the dumb bitch had put hers on 'mute' despite the fact that they were in the middle of a fairly emergency situation.
I know, user. I know.
>Trailers convinced me to see it
How? If anything the trailers were a massive red flag from the get go. The first movie's trailers told you exactly what the premise is about, you knew about Ralph's motivations from the start. The sequel trailers had none of that, just the princess and some vague Internet shit.
So how did movie do overall? The first one was good, but I never bothered with this one because it looked bland as shit.
>WRECK-IT RALPH 2: RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET
>"Shouldn't that be 'Ralph WRECKS the Internet?'"
>"Yeah, since his name is WRECK-It Ralph?"
Even fucking Disney made fun of this train wreck.
if a loli can't save a movie, then it truly must be bad
>First movie is hero vs. villain/save the princess loving video game tribute action comedy
>Sequel is relationship break up drama
On the flip side though, the Casual Princesses were amazing and we need a whole movie with them.
It's okay when gilr does it - the movie.
Being voiced by Sarah Silverman is an automatic deduction on the cuteness sale. Being a shit plummets her even lower.
>Being voiced by Sarah Silverman is an automatic deduction on the cuteness sale.
Yeah, a loli shouldn't sound like a 50 year old chain smoker. Dunno what they were thinking with that casting.
>Dunno what they were thinking with that casting.
Sarah Silverman was mildly popular as a female comedian around the development of the first movie so they were hoping to bank on that.
>Vanellope basically goes Turbo
Ssugar Rush us established to have a rotating roster. It wasn't an issue for her to not be there before the ending of the 1st movie, and it wasnt an issue for a new racer to just show up either.
Holy shit... well thanks for answering me user.
We don't know how long Vanellope was "gone" from Sugar Rush in the first movie. And sure, for the first week or two, people may not notice Vanellope not being in the game. But eventually people are gonna start saying "Hey... Has ANYONE seen anyone playing Vanellope lately?" Besides, it was also established that after the end of the movie Vanellope became a really popular character in the game due to her teleportation ability.
Spilled milk at that point. Sugar rush citizens basically already know where there going to live if there game get's axed.
Yeah. In a giant train station. Homeless. I'm sure it's all they've ever dreamt of.
>QT orange hair Cinderella.
WHY THE FUCK didn't they stick to her original design and personality instead of using the blonde false bitch that was in the final film.
Not the racers. They were adopted by Fixit and Calhoun. Who cares about the other candy citizens.
>lazy eye
>no midriff
>knock-knees
Good lord, what a disaster.
Just because you dont like the explanation doesnt mean there isnt one. Its a rotating roster.
>Its a rotating roster.
That would be some pretty shitty luck for Vanellope to never rotate into the roster ever again for the rest of forever. Kids might stop playing the game if the best character was never available.
They played it before and it was fine. Only the winners of the last race are available to race as, this is confirmed in the moviem
>They played it before and it was fine.
Again, this was before everyone discovered what a kick ass character Vanellope was at the end of the movie. This is also confirmed in the movie.
Not to mention, Vanellope's not just some random fuck nobody racer in the game. She's the world's princess - Their leader, their ruler. She didn't even try to set up a replacement before she ditched her people.
You think the Princesses ever have orgies in their dressing room during their down time? You know, out of boredom?
I'm just upset that they completely missed the super-easy sequel idea of Ralph and co. discovering the wide world of home consoles. You have literally 40+ years worth of gaming history to work off of with that subject, but they instead went for the world of social media when that could've EASILY been its own movie concept and has little-to-no relation with video games. It's like if Zootopia got a sequel that focused on plant people for no reason, and Nick and Judy were the only major returning characters.
Just because you dont like an explanation doesnt mean there isn't one. Again, rotating roster. Get it through your head already.
It's on the short list of movies I genuinely wish I could unsee.
Not "oh I wish I could get that time back" or anything. I mean I want to be able to watch Wreck-It Ralph without the awful sequel in the back of my mind, haunting me, telling me "that's no how it ends though."
Fuck this movie.
I like to think snow does a lot of raceplay

>Just because a movie's writing is bad and makes no sense doesn't mean you should complain about it!
>when you know that the truth doesnt sound unreasonable so you have to make up some unsaid shit to make yourself feel more right
God that Disney shilling they didn't even try to hide it with posters.
Because her dolls only sell with the pale blonde hair
Fucking racist kids.
This movie is first of the Post Revival Era. We're in for a ride.
>Ralph and Felix come up with a plan together in order to save Sugar Rush.
>Ralph wants to come to Vanellope's rescue again.
>Felix wants the racer kids out of his apartment.
>They finalize the plan and declare "Let's do this!" together.
>Felix stays home for the entire movie.
Casual Ariel... unf.
But the question is, does her pussy smell like fish
No, but yours does
Reminder that this happened and that Disney really thought this would win
Well my daughter and wife loved it?
You should feel ashamed as a father and husband.
They're too used to having things their way
This movie killed the Revival Era. I told you, it's over. It's going to be a steady decline from here on out.
I don’t know why they didn’t just make a princess movie, it seems like that’s what they really wanted anyway, it would’ve made more bank and not ruined WiR.
I thought it would be funny bad like Shark Tale was. It hit similar marks but it wasn’t the same
Princesses were the only good part of the movie. Even if they were cheap jokes just seeing them together was awesome.
Yes
My number one beef with the film is that it completely goes against the message of the first movie.
>your life is shit and repetitive and boring
>no it isn't, it's actually pretty cool and necessary and you have to stick to your responsibilities
>your life is boring
>fuck responsibility, do what you want!!! because you're A GIRLLL
Nah, that would be Moana.
A movie that nobody ever talks about anymore, if they ever even did.
Moana was decent and nothing special, which is why no one talks about it. Ralph 2 killed the momentum they had going, and really shows they give zero fucks about a proper narrative.
Ralph 2 is fan fiction tier.
I'm gonna say something controversial but I think it was actually Frozen that killed the revival era, because really, that movie proved to Disney that all they really needed was one memorable song and the rest of the production could be lackluster and no one would care.
Moana was last thing Lasseter helped create. That's why it's the last Revival Era movie.
>Disney has sold out to remakes, marvel and shilling.
>Imagine Bob Iger living long enough to go from saviour of Disney to a typical corporate bad guy in the matter of a decade.
Eisner did same.
At this point Vanellope could vote Trump and create a second holocaust and the writers will try their hardest to portray her as in the right and Ralph in the wrong.
How will the kids don't notice that Vanellope is gone?
She was a popular choice for gamers.
How will they don't notice it?
the only good thing about this movie were casual princesses and porn that came out of it.
Maybe it'll be like Reboot and restarting the game will make a new one.
Eisner lost his mind trying to compete with things he didn't need to. Iger is going to collapse everything under his own hubris.
>you will never touch Sarah Silverman's feet
Why even live?
So wrinkly!
Exactly. You may not want to play as him every time, but eventually, you're gonna notice that Mario is missing from Mario Kart.
>Exactly. You may not want to play as him every time, but eventually, you're gonna notice that Mario is missing from Mario Kart.
And what will happen?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
>Ralph: "My job is pretty boring, but hey, as long as I have friends, it makes everything okay."
>Vanellope: "My job is pretty boring, SO FUCK IT AND FUCK MY FRIENDS, I'M GOING TURBO."
>>Vanellope: "My job is pretty boring, SO FUCK IT AND FUCK MY FRIENDS, I'M GOING TURBO."
I relate to her!
Hahaha #relatable
Vanellope did nothing wrong!
Yes. She's effectively immortal, so she could have at least stayed with Sugar Rush until the arcade gets closed down & then go do her whole thing.
Iger doesn't seem proud like Eisner. If anything, Iger is an emotionless computer. He makes the decisions algorithmically, but his lack of vision & passion is his falling.
Coco was decent, even though that's Pixar
I like Moana but also didn't think it was special.
Do you think they'll ever unabashedly show how many IPs they own in this matter again, now that they own Alien and The Simpsons.
who even gives a shit post turbos
Moana didn't connect. I didn't understand her passion for wayfinding. She's supposed to be the outcast for it, right? But then it turns out she was descended from voyagers? So where's the rebellion? She's just doing what they did a millennium ago? How is she going against the grain?
because the grain changed.
Not really. She was going both with & against the grain either way. If she didn't try to venture beyond the reef, she would have had that itch of adventure that her ancestors would have wanted her to scratch. Since she left, Moana was only going against her father's wishes.
The movie didn't need an outcast angle, but they tried to put it in there anyways. So now the story is a bit fucked up. Whatever. It was damn linear & the ocean was boring.
That's a rumor that people keep re-posting but I haven't seen anyone link a source for that.
According to the artbook, the conflict between Vanellope and Ralph was inspired by how one of the creators used to live in a small town as a kid but moved away to a big city. Because of the distance, the friendship between him and his pals had to transform and adapt to the situation. WiR2 wasn't about divorce, it was a friendship story.
Didn't they say in the film that that grain got a lot of people hurt and that's why they moved away from it? I swear her dad had some le tragic backstory regarding it
I still liked what Moana was doing though. To me, it just felt like a very modern, 2017 or whenever take on a Disney Princess story. It's not completely my thing, but I still appreciated it. I think it's one of the better Disney films of late. Good songs too.
It was also stupid because their food sources were rapidly dying off and Moana was the only one in any position of power trying to do anything about it. Her dad was literally about to sentence to entire tribe to death... But it wasn't even out of a sinister "We can't go out onto the ocean, because of secret evil reasons of mine!" but literally because he was a fucking idiot who crashed his boat one time.
Which Creator?
I still like Moana as well, bit the story needed combing. While I loved that they didn't make sex a topic, the whole identity theme was unnecessary. It's like they were trying to address identity politics without actually talking about it.
The reason the film gave as to why the people stopped settling was that Maui stole the Heart of Te Fiti. That's... It.
The reasoning is as weak as this:
>Why did all the dinosaurs go away?
>Because you touch yourself at night.
probably unless they started giving a shit about backlash
It's based on Maori mythology.
The logic is literally "there are stars in the sky because Maui died in a spiked vagina
...I don't see what that has to do with the Chief not giving two shits as the island was running out of food.
How does that even make sense? How does dying in a vagina make the stars?
Pretty sure user was being sarcastic,
This movie sucked.
The premise and early art looked promising with all the fake business and stuff.
Then the actual film was an orgy of product placement and Disney having an entire plot dedicated to their own masturbation.
Fuck that.
Your claim is wrong though
The only praise that I can give this movie is that it was.....a movie. It was a movie, with a plot, and things happened in it.
how can an arcade game with no internet have constant updates and new characters added?
>Stripping Star Wars Galaxies of anything from TOS and Prequels all because some papers were giving Disney a blowjob about how great it all was.
That's some super shortsighted moves there.
And now a part section with only ONE RIDE and SIX STORES and its SECOND RIDE maybe not even open till next years at both parks and yet somehow is already over budget.
This will happen again in 2020 when Raya get's BFTO by the TimLord duo and Michells vs the Machines
