Okay this is part of Rick Veitch's King Hell Heroica basically his very unique piss take on the history of comics but kind of done lovingly. There are more stories which are the Maximortal and boy Maximortal which...might be the weirdest Superman deconstrctuions ever.

But it's subtext is about how cooperate greed stole and twisted these wonderful ideas into horror and kink. A lot of people compare it to watchmen but it's not and if you going to make comparisons Early mad magazine Superduperman and Batboy and Rubin are more the true influences on the books. I think that's the reason besides how weird it is, people go into thinking Watchmen but sidekicks but it's more like an 80's version of what Mad was back then.

Yes and no.

Maximortal, a Superman/Dr Manhattan stand-in that is mentioned in the series/shows up at the end, basically got his own spin-off that takes place immediately after the series ends.

The only other character in the thing is Doctor Blasphemy; you find out his backstory and history with the Maximortal and why Maximortal left the Earth.

Maximortal itself is pretty meta and based upon Veitch complaining about the corporate nature of super-hero books and how badly creators are ripped off by DC and Marvel (Veitch was largely a creator owned comic guy who's Big Two work was only done as a favor to Alan Moore).

Sadly Maximortal never got finished.

Outside the backstory dump relating to Blasphemy (spoiler; he's a deep cover CIA operative who specialized in psychological warfare that adopted the identity of Dr Blasphemy to screw with Maximortal's head in order to cause him to leave Earth on behalf of the US government; the CIA then had him take over as the Green Arrow stand-in's butler to continue spying on the remaining heroes[/spoilers]), it's pretty skippable.

I disagree. In terms of partners, it's KKKman < Buttbandit < Whorra < Tony stark. Tony just exposes you to drugs, as long as you have some willpower, you might even end up fine. It's way better than getting physically abused and destroying your body with steroids, same effect sans fun. Or getting raped/gay raped.

I don't really think this is SOP material- the art's damn good and the writing isn't spectacular but it's still fine and has its moments. It's honestly not bad, I kinda like it.
