Depends on the tone. For more serious, detective-style stories, there shouldn't be a bright yellow oval because it doesn't make practical sense. For more superhero-y stories, strong design is more important than militaristic stealth, so yellow oval for those.
What would be ideal would be the yellow oval as a sort of signifier that the particular story is an all-ages thing, and the plain black back being an indication that the story's PG-13 or up.
