The Layton-era Silver Centurion warrants a mention as well.

Ma nigga.

Yes it does.

Out of pure utility though, I'd go with the cartoon's second season rendition of the Mark XI Modular, that allowed him to change to other suits and looked spiffy as fuck.

Can't go wrong with the classics.

For me, it's Bengus. The definitive Mahvel artist.

Okay, this needs to stop.
That's not "Godkiller". If it has a nickname, it's called "Space Knight". That armor originated in the storyline "Godkiller", but it never killed any gods.
You know what killed a fuckton of gods, though? FUCKING GODKILLER.

Which is not an Iron Man armor or any kind of armor at all, but a four-and-a-half-mile gunship that looks like a person.

I liked The SKIN-armor. Too bad it or its concepts are never used.

For me it's the Hypervelocity armor. It had a lot of cool new abilities, it had a lot of 80s anime influence, and like all the best Iron Man armors it's empty.

Why Yea Forums of all things? 60s Tony at that? Yea Forums‘s more likely.

Because of the Mandarin and Fin Fang Foom being chinese so he would shitpost on the board with chinese cartoons and fillipino flipbooks to blow some steam off.

This armor is obscure by now, but I like this depiction.

Tony feels more like a /m/ poster, due to his actually building himself some gundams. Probably /g/ and /o/ and all the adult boards.

I will never stop being mad at how big of a missed opportunity Iron Man 3 was.

No question Tony is /m/ but probably Yea Forums due to Gundams and other super robots he likes to see or other mecha. /g/...he'd probably be a real legit poster there. He'd never even glance at the adult boards due to the pussy he's slayed and is drowning, he needs a brek when he shitposts.

This is the best version of the War Machine armor. This was when Tony's nervous system was burning out and his logic behind building it was that if I'm going to die in agony then you should too.

Good question... lemme check

It's the 'Tin Man'. That was the last one.

Well, the 'Model Prime' could change between all armor models there ever were (But so could everything from Bleeding Edge onward).

Just so you know, I am stealing this for future use.

It's interesting that Stark is one of the few superheroes that actively seeks to increase his own power.

Stark is deliciously insecure, past the armor that's his public self.

>Iron Man 2020
It's one year away boys, do you think they'll even mention it?

Slott seems to be building up to it if the inclusion of Arno in his run is anything to go by.

Why do Marvel civilians do this? They're constantly mocking, berating, and harassing folk who could toss them over the Empire Sate Building in a fit of pique.

And the grey armor is not terrifying. It looks kinda clunky and goofy.

Why is it a bad thing? You should absolutely be trying to skew things in your favor as much as possible against supervillains.

This has always been one of the weirdest things about superhero comics to me.

I strongly suspect Arno wants to supplant Tony.

If Slott has the balls, and given his history, we might even be getting a year of Arno as Iron Man. A better, more ruthless, more efficient Iron Man, dare I say it a 'superior' Iron Man, as it were.

eScape exists, a virtual universe Tony was very nearly permanenly imprisoned in without even realizing it, plus there is now the very real question whether he even IS the real Tony Stark anymore now that his deleted, re-booted from digital back-up brain is housed in a completely reconstructed body.

In 1963, that was totally terrifying.

And yet often his armors seem to fall behind the capabilities of his older models.

it's my favorite, shame we didn't see it on film

>And the grey armor is not terrifying
you should see the sci-fi horror movies of the time.

>confirmed normie/non-reader

It's not a bad thing. I didn't mean it as a bad thing. His insecurity is a nice character trait.

The sad thing is that the Mandarin switcheroo was for no other reason than pandering to China.

Ho's thicc ass Iron Patriot suit tickles my fancy a whole lot.

Not him, but I like it too, desu. I hate it when it’s overblown like in recent times (see BENIS’ run), but it’s a nice little touch when kept at an appropriate amount.

It's a good trait that I don't see many super heroes deal with. Usually they're just given a smidgen of it and it's never really addressed in the long term or brought up again in any meaningful way.

>And yet often his armors seem to fall behind the capabilities of his older models.

>when the one character who has a clear and explicit reason to power creep gets weaker and weaker over time

Well, that’s because most supers have actual superpowers and with those come perfect genes. Stark’s literally a guy in a tin can. He’s not an Uber-Genius, an Uber-Fighter, an Uber-Leader or whatever. Imagine living in a world with Gods, Mutants with perfect genes and Geniuses that surpass everything. Sure, he’s got it better than Hawkeye, but he’s supposed to be playing with the Big Boys. It makes sense that he’d be so obsessed with NANOMACHINES, SON. Eventually it becomes a character flaw because it makes him paranoid, deceitful, and a slew of other stuff. When, if you think about it, he’s already got enough going for him already. But he just wants more. He’s like a less autistic, and less talented, Doom.

Has any of his armors gained self awareness or formed into a living being in some way? I'm sure Ultron had tried something... besides that one time.

I have a soft spot for mark VII. It looks bette rin the movie than it does in that photo though, especially the silver.

>Sure, he’s got it better than Hawkeye
If anything Tony is in a worse spot than people like Hawkeye and especially Captain America because he doesn't get their ridiculous plot armor.

>Has any of his armors gained self awareness or formed into a living being in some way?
Yes. The abusive boyfriend armor.

Attached: 1538340724085.jpg (988x1500, 1.36M)

The no plot armor is what makes it more entertaining when he gets into something way over his head IMO.

Eh, I generally hate plot armor and self-insertion, so I’m good. I feel that it makes characters less interesting.

The absolute peak of Iron Man design. Second only to the (sadly unused) space suit.

Attached: Hot Toys Mark-39 Starboost.jpg (894x1311, 164K)

Eh, lately Stark has been getting shat on way too much. I want some stories with him being successful and happy for one.

I love this. Shame it never got it's outing when Tony was supposed to meet the GoTG in space because he got their distress signal.

As someone who loves the Kaminski era I agree. I just don’t like the “keikaku” syndrome where everything goes according to plan at all times. I like watching the hero work for his victory.

I like the chunkier ones, more steam-punk.

Is Busiek's run worth picking up?

Tony was explicitly throwing everything he had at Thanos in that fight, damn his own survivability. In the Endgame battle, he's explicitly trying to stay alive to go back to his family and had support of two of the most prominent avengers fighting alongside him, so I'm not surprised he reigned in the suicidal full frontal assault this time.

IIRC Busiek himself doesn't consider it his best work but I personally enjoyed it. Give it a try if you want.

Even considering that arc, yes. His run was one of the bests, right up there with the Knaufs.

iRonman

Alright, I'll check it out. I saw that a trade of the first half or so came out, so I'll pick that up soon.

Since this is the /img/, I wanna ask this to my fellow Ironfags. What else do you like from comics and I guess games and shows and stuff? For example I like Sci-Fi, but I’ve never managed to get into the X-Men. I like military fiction, so I love MGS, but Avengers never interested me. What other comics do you consume? Do you have a few certain tastes, or are they all over the place? I never managed to like magic for example, even though I tried getting into Doctor Strange or Hellblazer multiple times.

I love the armor designs mainly, it was pretty much the only reason I tolerated Armored Adventures because the redesigns for IM's rogues gallery was god tier.

MCU Hulkbuster actually did it's intended job and is actually better than pretty much any other iteration of the Hulkbuster, because it can replace destroyed parts on the fly..

Wait, what?

Oh yeah, Secret Wars.

As an Shellhead oldfag, I've got to agree with this. Usually Banner just punks the "Hulkbusters"

They’re both cool in concept, and so much in need of reinvention/someone to use them, that I really like them. Batman’s and Spider-Man’s are overdone at this point, and with how “””accepting””” the X-Men are, most of their villains are part of their ranks at this point.

Not Pat Benatar.

Tasteless user. Tasteless.

Looks like something Blue Beetle would use.

I was thinking about ending this long ted talk like post with a picture of my generations primary iron man armor but I got pic related telling me to stop looking for it while I was looking for it. #technology. And I challenge you to find anyone on Reddit who plays like this behaves this isn't a red post.
Yup when this debuted (day byood?) I thought it was the coolest thing.
Also this.
Holy Shit my childhoods armor is conspicuously missing from your generational collection despite being features in comics printed in the middle of all of those designs.
Third or Fourth if you don't count the Armor this thread's missing.
Then this one, yep.
Always forget the original Granov design because it has dominated all the MCU designs since. But as a comic armor it was definitely top tier.
Of all the Granov based Ultron looking designs this one has got the most right to stand alone as a new game on the Iron Man armor like the ScarletSilver Centurian armor and the others. Really took the the challenge of changing the iron man colors and went some where with it.
I always call it Granov because the design itself came before Tony doses himself and the design doesn't change at all from before to after.
I don't count Iron Patriot as an Iron Man character because like War Machine and the green armor from the Marvel prisons it's a different character.
I use to fancy this one back when I hated the Armor that came after. I didn't really like the Iron Man armor when in was growing up. They didn't look as cool as the ones that came before.
Yes. Achieves what does as far as bringing in a winning new color scheme.

A+ definitive //my iron man//

>I don't count Iron Patriot as an Iron Man character because like War Machine and the green armor from the Marvel prisons it's a different character.
Well, duh. It's been a long while since I read Dark Reign and Siege but isn't Iron Patriot just a stolen Extremis armor with a Cap paint job that Osborn wanted to represent both heroes?

Get me a picture of the three Iron Man handles that came before War Machine and find out because right now it's looking like one generation of fictional technology has evaded an entire planet of iron man interest filtered through the most politically correct search engine.

Oh look it's the actual best suit.

>I always call it Granov because the design itself came before Tony doses himself and the design doesn't change at all from before to after.
True, but Extremis armor works completly different compared to the Pentagon armor because Tony has become a cyborg with Extremis. The Extremis armour is more than a armour and that's why I like it.

>isn't Iron Patriot just a stolen Extremis armor with a Cap paint job that Osborn wanted to represent both heroes?
Yes. It's also around the same time Tony started destroying his warehouses that had any remaining armors and wiped his brain so Osborn wouldn't get the list of registered heroes.

That's even better, holy shit.

>isn't Iron Patriot just a stolen Extremis armor with a Cap paint job that Osborn wanted to represent both heroes?
Normie's a Stonyfag confirmed.

Iron Patriot also doesn't have enough of his own design elements to warrant being much of a character, much like War Machine. It wasn't until the lotus design elements from Ultimate Iron Patriot that it began to look like it's own thing.

Yep. A very cool armor to look at when it first debuted. (Day Byood?)

While were on the subject of Iron Man, aside from Demon in a Bottle and Armor Wars, I'm almost finish with Matt Fraction's run, the entirety of volume 4. I really don't know where to go next since I'm afraid the next volume is tainted by the movies and bendis is bendis. What runs should I read? Is Ultimate IM even worth touching?

So is Toni Ho, I guess. She took the title from Osborn some time after and kept the theme intact.

To this day I still think they completely wasted Extremis. I expected Tony to get involved with the U-Men/Fantomex and start being a third fraction in the Mutant/Human war. Someone needs to breed Jeen now that Cyclops is fucking a plastic whore, dammit!

Just start from Tales Of Suspense and work your way up. Kaminski’s run is seriously underrated. And I even liked The Crossing issues. Fucking fight me faggots.

>gets Extremis’d
>breeds Jean
>kids are supergenius Omega Level Telepaths who are also billionaires and quasi-Cyborgs
>they become the biggest weapons manufacturers in the universe
>turn everyone they don’t like gay
Christ user, why do you hate life so much?

Hmmm. You may be right.

Probably not a coincidence.

>debuted (day byood?)

You had me puzzled for almost two minutes.

It's 'dee butted', of course.

...I feel ashamed to say that I can't make heads nor tails of your request.

>isn't Iron Patriot just a stolen Extremis armor

It can't be, because you need Tony's special adaptations to be able to use that armor. It probably was the armor right before that one - the 'Tin Man', or the 'Iron Secretary', which are just different iterations of the same model.

If you insist on having an armor that can transform into a suitcase then yes. Otherwise, it's like one of those spare tires than can just about get you home.

I'm sorry but I can't make your puzzlement matter unless you can share responsibility for posting a picture of one of the suits that inspired War Machine. Preferably the one with the golden midrift and the poofy looking boots and gauntlets.

I really like MCU Hulkbuster. It actually feels massive and powerful, like a last-resort armor. Its sheer toughness and restorative capabilities allow for more intense action, with more direct and brutal punches. I'm surprised it doesn't have more fans and I think it's a shame it never got to face off against Thanos.

I don't know what to tell someone who thinks Fraction's garbage is worth reading.

Gillen is actually not bad, although his Loki stuff is much better, and 'Superior Iron Man' is good.

Avoid Bendis like the plague.

I rather like Slott's stuff.

Ultimate Iron Man is only worthwhile in 'Ultimates'.

(...)

Oh, you have ONLY read Fraction so far?
Read Kaminski; also, Layton.

Kaminski had nothing to do with the Crossing.
When he was told what Kavanaugh wanted, he was like "Fuck this shit, I'm out".

>one of the suits that inspired War Machine

You mean Iron Man armors? None of the armors that preceded War Machine inspired it. That's what made it so shocking.

For me it is the McChicken

I know. That’s why I said “I even liked The Crossing issues” and not “his Crossing issues”. Kaminski’s rum is underrated was my first point. My second was that even The Crossing wasn’t that bad in the beginning.

I remember seeing these in the store but not knowing where it was from because we never got Iron Man show in here nor was there really any Marvel comics.

Also Busiek's stuff. I love Busiek's stuff,

What character isn't at this point?

When tony Revealed his love for wahrammer 40k Terminator Armor

That Heroes Reborn? I got a few issues on FCBD for $1 a piece. Mostly bought it because I was hankering for some IM stuff and the LCS didn't have anything else.

The rage face makes it look badass.
