Hey, remember when we could all just enjoy whatever we wanted, and when we didn't like something, we just moved on with our lives and found something else to do? Remember when shows, movies, games, and comics didn't come with retarded drama and pointless controversy from butthurt faggots? Remember when creators could just share what they were making without having to worry about dickweeds sending them death threats and hate speech? Remember when the world wasn't a pessimistic, cynical shithole where total assholery thrives and compassion is considered weak? Can we go back to those days?

I agree to an extent

Yea Forums isn't really that cynical compared to some other boards

Those days never existed kid.

If there was a better period, it was when the internet didn't have to have everything under 100 layers of irony and those days are never coming back.

Agreed. But cynicism and general disdain had always been a staple in media, particularly comic, discussions. OP seems like a child who's imaging better times that never existed.

>remember when there was no internet and internet message boards for autists to congregate in didn't exist?

No.

>t. Part of the bloody problem
Ingest some cyanide.

I unironically think that the rise of high speed internet was the worst thing to ever happen to society. The web was fine when it was basically just a content hosting service, but once it got fast enough and popular enough to have full on conversations on, it ruined everything, making it possible for those who would normally be bullied out of society to communicate with other social malfunctions and convince themselves that they're normal

>the world needs to commit mass suicide so I can be happy
Why not just kill yourself instead of being such a bitch about people bitching about things?

>lul just accept having cancer and getting assraped it's better that way
Again; ingest cyanide. I'm sure it'll make you feel like the same kind of shit you like to wallow in.

You have a skewed view of the internet that seems to confirm my assumption you're under the age of 25.

The conversations were the original intent even from the military's point of view and it was originally one of the majors draws of the internet. Bandwidth was hardly there for content hosting until later which is why the gif was so perfect. You should look into the history of the internet before speaking out of your ass again.

>Hey, remember when we could all just enjoy whatever we wanted, and when we didn't like something, we just moved on with our lives and found something else to do?

I still do that, not being mentally damaged feels great.

>do the thing I say
No pussy come force me to do so or hang your faggot ass and stream it.

You mad?

>having cancer and being ass raped is the same as people complaining about comics and cartoons
You seem to be the one who needs to fuck off weirdo.

People have been bitching about everything from sports to movies to politics since the inception of those things.

Actually no, I don't remember. We've been arguing and teasing each other for what others like since grade school.
>Remember when shows, movies, games, and comics didn't come with retarded drama and pointless controversy from butthurt faggots?
No. Soccer moms were the SJWs of the past. The arguments of representation and politics have been in the media since we were kids, we're just now enough to understand it.
>Remember when creators could just share what they were making without having to worry about dickweeds sending them death threats and hate speech?
No, again soccer moms and religious folks were always down the throats of creatirs and media. Even Disney got it's fair share of hate.

Welcome to adulthood user. You'll start to see the cycle circle over and over again with each generation until your death.

Me?

You made a thread to complain about complaining, told three people to kill themselves and compared people complaining about comics and cartoons to ass rape and cancer.

You mad?

You mad?

>CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG
>statement is framed right out the gate as if a mentally unstable, impotently raging asshole wrote it instead of someone that could be taken seriously

This is just embarrassing

This. Life sucks and people suck.

You mad?

You mad?

No

>If there was a better period, it was when the internet didn't have to have everything under 100 layers of irony and those days are never coming back.

yeah i mean it's not like the 90s weren't saturated with irony but lately it seems to have been taken about 100000x further by all these zoomer kids. to the point of just being embarrassing

>can we go back
We have always been cynical. Before, present, and future.

Attached: 1550631309237.jpg (926x678, 85K)

Let's hope something ends up killing this entire worthless species.

You say "lately" only because you just started to notice it. You are now old enough to understand how people are and see these things. Not only that, you're on Yea Forums and I can assume, also in other circles where you hear the same things. Normies are oblivious to these matters.

i'm one of the few people that actually knows just where OP's coming from and all the little discrepancies and snags with it

people here are just too stupid to catch it. the internet isn't my friend or anyone's friend and it hasn't been that way for a while. i wish i could let go and walk away. it's too hard

>Replying to a thread stating that you've reported or "saged" it, or another post, is also not allowed.

This website is an absolute fucking joke. If they gave out awards for hypocrisy you'd win every year.

Why dont you practice what you preach?

You seem like you barely have a grasp of English. You're likely an autistic black dude who loves goku or a Mexican.

Either way what you've said has hardly any meaning.

>Remember these things that never happened?

Remember when good stuff actually came out so when something becomes bad or something turns out to be bad it wasn't really a big deal?

whatever freak, go get yourself evaluated

>No. Soccer moms were the SJWs of the past. The arguments of representation and politics have been in the media since we were kids, we're just now enough to understand it.

sjws were already around just not as influential

Yea Forums is the circus and is filled with literal mentally ill manchildren. mods are crook and moot jumped ship for a reason. for actual discussion go elsewherechan

>go to MosqueShooterchan
No fuck you

That's maybe true but prior to Internet, moping cynical emoshits "everything suck, nothing matter" tardos had the decency to stay in their holes and keep their shitty opinions to rot with them in said holes

The 90s irony was in palatable quantity, now it's saturated and every emo with an Internet connection can broadcast their inane opinion

we've gotten to the point where people think stuff like the letter e is funny

Oh, no! Creators are criticised occasionally!

Everything does suck. Nothing matters. Sorry you hate evryone with even a vaguely cynical outlook so much that you have to refer to them as emoshits. It’s fine that you like crap. Good for you.

>Everything does suck. Nothing matters.
BURRRRP
WUBALUBADUBDUBBSSSSSSSSSSS
I'M PICKLE RIIIIIIIIICK

Remember when this website wasn’t full of morons? Yeah I don’t either.
True.
Except for the fact that since its conception in 1969 as a military service it was designed for widespread communications.

I find it fascinating that when you read about Kurt Cobain, he had pretty much the exact same bleak, ironic, pessimist, cynical outlook as people today do. In fact, it was novel at the time and considered cool. Same thing with the Simpsons, its relatively cynical look at American life in the early 90s was considered controversial, cool, and groundbreaking.
That was 30 years ago. It started in 1989.
We've been in the same general outlook for 30 fucking years and people still act like it's novel or original.
It's not. It's old hat. It's played out. It's tired and boring. I don't even understand how people can act like it's some kind of hot new thing when they've spent their entire lives immersed in it.
I really hope people start getting sick of it and we can just move on already. There's nothing new to be said or done with it.

Attached: Hank ass kicking.jpg (780x439, 37K)

>There is nothing mainstream that is darker or more cynical than the fucking simpsons.

OK, fool.

Says a lot about our society doesn't it?

Attached: 1553978268384.jpg (474x710, 55K)

>Missing the point entirely
OK, fool.

>kid
LE EPIC CRINGE DAB ON YO ASS

Imagine having no balls and letting jacks butt fuck you with bad cartoons and never getting rightfully upset about it. What a cuck OP must be.

>”Cynicism bad! Art should now be idealistic or hawk the same platitudes as existentialists”

uwu sorry daddy

>Hey, remember when we could all just enjoy whatever we wanted, and when we didn't like something, we just moved on with our lives and found something else to do?
No, mostly I remember mockery of my hobbies.
>Remember when shows, movies, games, and comics didn't come with retarded drama and pointless controversy from butthurt faggots?
No, that was always the case with Yea Forums-related shit.
>Remember when creators could just share what they were making without having to worry about dickweeds sending them death threats and hate speech?
No, as soon as they got on the internet they got fake-ass death threats. That's been a constant.
>Remember when the world wasn't a pessimistic, cynical shithole where total assholery thrives and compassion is considered weak?
No, I do remember when your type acted just the same and thought you were being "good guys" for it though.

I somewhat agree but talking about why something is shit is important because if people don't then artists and corporations won't be motivated to make actual good stuff.

OP was definitely born after 9/11.

Oh, shit sorry I meant to direct this toKind of undercut the impact of my epic burn.

Yeah. We all remember being naive children.

Fuck off fake jannie, we're having a discussion here

Like that's so deep and so true bro.Pass the toke.We should start doing a cringe compilation YouTube channel together and shit.

I literally never said any of that you mong. Embracing cynicism for the sake of it is just a totally worn out part of popular culture. No shit it has its place in the artistic world, but the "Ha ha finna kill myself famalam life is meaningless" shit that's treated like some kind of novel point of view for cool kids is just boring at this point. I used Nirvana and the Simpsons because they represented a clear point where popular culture started to shift in that direction, but I'm not criticizing them or even the pop culture of the time, just that people have held onto it for so long and act like joking about depression and committing suicide is hot new shit.
OP wasn't complaining about cynicism in media content, he was complaining about people being cynical assholes, and so am I.

I enjoy things regularly, I don't go into things looking for shit to hate so I can post about it on Yea Forums. Stop letting SJW vs /pol/,company wars and outrage farming get to you

Attached: 6D36148E583E429489B79088A1BCA2DE.jpg (1600x1230, 533K)

based retard

Actually i do remember when people used to pretend to be morons here before the actual morons flooded in.

One simply doesn't consider Spongebob after Hillenburg a good thing, because everyone on Yea Forums is grieving because he died and there are very few people in the comics and cartoons universe beloved as this guy. They are very sensitive about it, but Yea Forums doesn't pretend to be an angry bastard (all the time).

Remember:

The new spongebob is bad.

Yeah.

The death threats and junk were always around, of course. See Animaniacs' "Please Please Please Get a Life Foundation" skits for how bad things always were.

But here's the deal. Letting shit effect you in a negative way, letting yourself stew in the negativity - that ain't healthy and you shouldn't do it. It seems more and more people are doing that, falling into the same cycle of angry old people watching the 24/7 news to in order to be angry forever.

If something is bad, drop it and read/watch something good. If you care about the IP keep tabs on it, but don't support it.

Like right now, X-men is at a particularly low point. I mean X-Men hasn't been good in arguably decades but the current shenaninigans are just the worst. So yeah, I pirated yesterday's issue, groaned, and then I went back to something I enjoyed. That's all there is to it.

Don't let yourself get too attached to an IP you have no control over. And when you do, just hope for something better, like after Marvel Comics crashes and goes under and Disney sticks new in house comics written by established authors on their disney+ service.

>It's not. It's old hat. It's played out.
It was played out in the late 00s-early 10s, when forced positivity and things 'le geek chic xD' were aiming to gentrify pop culture and interpersonal relationships, but we've seen a revival of 90s cynicism as, one, those grew stifling and cloying, two, events such as the 2016 election showed how our beloved institutions were bigger jokes than we had anticipated, and three, the internet makes and accelerates post-factualism.

Remember, there's always someone out there enjoying your suffering.

Are you really going to give them that satisfaction?

Attached: co sponge counter point 1.png (1217x1601, 289K)

Fuck off, newfag. Those days existed before the pony apocalypse. And that was entirely the fault of the mods for siding with Yea Forums.

>Remember when creators could just share what they were making without having to worry about dickweeds sending them death threats and hate speech?
I'm pretty sure in a time being dickweeds has been sending hate speech to authors in letters.

No. I remember when live action shit had its own board and stayed there, and we could post porn here as long as it was spoilered. In conclusion, fuck you.

This. Now if you even post women in lingerie it's subject to deletion, no idea what the fuck happened.

Rule 3 was a mistake.

RENT FREE FOR 9 YEARS
Imagine being in this shitty website and getting triggered by cartoon characters

Here's the thing:Ignorance is bliss.Prior to Internet,we didnt have access to every trivial information ever so pointless controversy about niche things were easy to avoid.Did you know that religious nuts were after TMNT in the 1980 youtube.com/watch?v=Hnjdq32u-MU
I certainly dont and it was a good thing. Now imagine the guy who made his VHS had access to the Internet,he could have started a full astroturfing campaign with hashtags and shit so he could have spread his message as far as possible.Limited communication was a blessing but like everything we only know what it is we have until it's gone

Attached: CONKER.png (413x385, 19K)

SAME AS IT EVER WAS

We're on the same page here, man. The mods decided to fuck with the pony threads instead of trying to stop people from fucking with them, and surprised pikachu face when the entire goddamn site joined in on it and it all blew up.

No, but I remember capeshit, weebshit, SJWars etc was considered as trash for kids, and adults would be ashamed to like these. These days all these "geek" culture sold to people and turning everyone into braindead consuming trash degenerates. No filter of quality at all. It's not our fault. The corporations just made a really smart move to sell their shit to everyone, not just nerds.

Sure feel better now that people shitpost with Stonetoss and A.Wyatt Mann /pol/ shit instead.I mean they are cartoon technically
>We post on a website where it's less controversial to post the rubbing hand jew caricature than a pink kid show character

you just grew up

>STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE is "grown up"

Attached: calcabrina.jpg (1280x720, 77K)

I'd argue that it's controlled resurgence compered to the far more natural outlook the 90s had, at least for america. In Europe, none o'that shit was anywhere near close that level of cynicism and a lot of the countries back in the 90s were cynical and had a bleak outlook in life because unlike fucking USA where it was "OMG, drugs and shit and yo, cubicals and I want to see my bosses balls busted, capitalism sucks" shit, some countries just started getting rebuild after occupations, civil wars, bombings from america, mandated immigrant crisis by government agents and so on that it was crazy. I remember watching the supposed "bleak, cynical shit" and laughing because the situation was jovial in comparisson.

Nowadays it's the opposite thing, for some reason america's schick as described by has gone into full fucking overdrive and has been ever since the Twin Towers attack, only ramping up each and every year. Even on the Yea Forums of old we didn't have this level of raw cynicism and bleakness because the shitposting and shitflinging far, far, far outweighted the negativity. Now, thanks to social media and holywood(later is conjection since I doubt many people outside of america pay that much attention to holyjews movies compared to what's trending on facebook and twatter) and it's infected fucking everyone. It's stiffling and stupid to an unprecedent degree and it only gets worse because instead of stopping it simply, people just take a deeper stance and prepare for a second round of penetrating pessimism, all over the world.

So yes, things backed then, things always sucked like some newfags say in this thread but not to this manufactred extent to the point where it's the new drug.

Almost like the mods nowadays are soccer moms and easily triggered tumblrinas rather than the more reasonable people they used to be.
