What You Want from Gunn Squad

>Tone and interpretation closer to Ostrander comics
Like, actual political thriller shit that deals with realpolitik and shady black-op shit. I mean, if the whole point is to use a team of villains to do things that the American government needs done but can't have connected to them, it should be closer to the Iran-Contra affair than fighting magic monsters

She never made sense on the team. Let her stink up that Birds of Prey movie nobody cares about or have a solo movie so that fans of nuQuinn will be pacified. But keep her away from this movie.

He's one of the coolest members of the team, is different from the others in that he's not a blackmailed villain and doesn't need a bomb in his neck, and has his own reasons for being on the team. Also, since all other things being equal, I prefer actors to look somewhat like their characters, even if it's not essential, having a prominent black character will mean that they can have Deadshot be a white guy again without anybody complaining about it.

Somebody who can actually pull off his nihilism and self-loathing and anti-social tendencies, instead of making him the "hol' up, you mean like sum kinda Suicide Squad? Also, I love my daughter" guy. Make a clean break from the last portrayal of the character, and bring that intensity from the Ostrander comics to him.

Just lucid comic book direction like he did w GotG, making things look fucking cool, so in this case the stealth, the intrigue, the explosions and gunplay, etc, just make it look awesome.

Hmm, not familiar with Gunn’s work outside of GOTG movies, what else has he done?

Make them all kind of lovable dickheads. Also some awesome action scenes involving their abilities

Margot Robbie in more skanky costumes.

He wrote those live-action Scooby Doo movies and collaborated with Suda51 on Lollipop Chainsaw.

Jewel in his crown though is Slither, which is kind of a throwback '80s B-horror movie heavily influenced by John Carpenter and Sam Raimi. It's a blast.

Super, imagine Kickass if it was a bit more grounded in reality and really fucking depressing.

What I like about the Ostrander stuff was that they WEREN'T "a loveable group of dickhead rascals that have hearts of gold." They were all different and unique, but many of them were pure bastards. It wasn't "a bunch of bad guys learn that they actually want to fight for good and discover the true meaning of family" like the movie was. That was sanitized bullshit to make the story cleaner and less psychologically complex than a bunch of fucked up people doing something for their own personal reasons.
