It was shown in Extermination that, as soon as the O5 are returned to their timeline of origin, a mental trigger was inserted in their brains to merge their memories with their past selves as soon as they reached a specific point in their present. So the O5 had their memories of their present adventures hidden away in the past, but in the present they were triggered back, merging both old and past selves.

Fuck I liked this way too much. It’s such a satisfying way to address this subject and kamala and scott’s interactions were absolutely charming.
It’ll probably be the only good thing to come from this event.

This is probably the most likable Scott we've had in years. For starters, he realizes that the X-Men are not the be-all-end-all of his entire existence.

It wasn't necessarily BAD under Waid, in fact a lot of cute casual moments with the squad happened under Waid. But it really started picking up with Zub and is one of Marvel's best team books since Secret Wars ended.
