Get in here, motherfuckers. After today’s episodes, we’ll only have two more 11-minute segments left to finish “Season 1.” I put that in quotations since Disney doesn’t give a fuck about their cartoons and will go out of their way to screw up the intended order of episodes, going so far as to mix S1 and S2 episodes in non-chronological order. Seriously, fuck them.
>Skunked: Cricket stages a crisis by letting skunks into the cafe, but it gets out of control. >Axin' Saxon: Nancy accidentally destroys Saxon, but Tilly mistakenly directs her wrath at Gramma.
I liked February's episodes and am happy to see CN releasing weekly premieres again (even if it's probably temporary).
"The Great Fossil Rush" and "The Shortcut" were my favorites. I was nice seeing Jason get further developed, and Kit is always great. I can't wait for the new premieres this month.
Since this poor excuse of a board always lets BCG threads die after two hours, I never got a chance to say how cool it is to see Tilly’s more vengeful side, like in last week’s “Park Pandemonium.”
Believe it or not, nobody on Yea Forums gives a shit about The Owl House. If that ongoing thread is any indication, most anons just care about having a circlejerk over spreading dumb rumors about Dana and the crew behind the show.
because people get salty when we bump BCG threads that's why.
anyone else feel weird when 'remy rescue' and 'cyberbullies' get paired up for broadcast?
cricket literally grabs onto a helicopter for remy but remy turned his back on cricket because he didn't want to get on the cyberknight's bad side. sure he and the other kids redeemed themselves in the end but the bit where cricket kept on calling on remy to stand by his side was pretty harsh.
>because people get salty when we bump BCG threads that's why So what you’re saying is that you personally tend to let BCG threads die out of fear that other anons on this board will get angry at us?
Fuck that. Let us discuss a show if we want. Don’t be ashamed or feel pressured to keep quiet about a show you like, user. As long as the annoying Gloriafags stay away, we should be fine.
oh no. i put my faith on other people and they fail me when they didn't keep the thread alive because i had to sleep/do stuff.
then again it seems to be some sort of russian roulette because keep the thread going for a while even if it's a gloria free discussion and someone just reports the whole thing and it's gone.
Levi Anderson
just as long as we don't have to see them cancerous Gloriafags that taints the BCG thread with how they faun over Gloria and shit, or some random user posting the owl house and amphibia shit just to derail the thread with the same old unrelated shit, the thread can do just fine even with anyone having to command the mod to close thread
>>spotted a Gloriafag Here we go again with this shit
Kevin Kelly
Basically any thread that has more people in it. You gonna derail a thread trying to promote a show, you better go with a thread that has more people in it
Henry Jenkins
So Tilly's adopted, right?
Sure we've never seen who gramma shacked up with but all of the Green phenotypes we've seen so far miss the mark
Gramma has blue hair, Nancy's is red, and Bill and Cricket both have brown, and all have the same skin. Only Tilly has that skin shade and black hair
Or is the joke supposed to be referencing sickly pale hillbilly kids who don't get they vitamins
I do it because I know most BCG threads can’t survive on their own; not many on Yea Forums (or elsewhere) care to watch the show. I thought riling people up with the upcoming Disney cartoons that’ll likely be more popular/controversial would keep most BCG threads alive UwU
It's a cute design choice that I wholeheartedly approve of. This show could use more interesting designs. The incidentals--which make up most of the overall cast--are lame.
>tfw Disney doesn't respect their cartoons enough to pick them up for more than two seasons (or even more than one season) if they aren't immediate successes or fall into the current trend they're trying to recreate One major reason SvtFoE kept getting prematurely renewed for more seasons was because it was just Disney’s bargain-bin Gravity Falls successor (a serialized dramedy with lore) to help keep their animation division alive until GF alumni inevitably pitched and sold their own series. Meanwhile, Wander got shafted since it was a silly episodic cartoon that CMcC originally wanted to mix with some serialization during early development.
Kim Possible only lasted like 5 years on TV. Star Vs is just a year away from equaling that. Not exactly a high bar to get over when there's far more successful post-2000s TV shows out there. Like Adventure Time (8 years) or a certain small horse show (9 years).
Colton Rodriguez
what really? god damn I remember it going on FOREVER.
Anthony Torres
They just reran it over and over. Also you were younger, your sense of time was much different. Kim Possible's last TV season was in 2007, but they reran it probably dozens of times.
Jason Williams
It might've been initially picked up to be the next Kim Possible, sure, but I feel like at some point during development (2011-2015), Gravity Falls had proven to be a game changer. By then, Disney must've been set on capturing that same magic with most of its future cartoons; it's probably why the DuckTales reboot turned out the way it did.
Pedos aren’t gonna ruin one of the best modern female characters that easily. As far as this thread is concerned, Tilly is not for lewd. Fuck . That guy could’ve posted any other image instead of going with that monstrosity.
1) Waifus. That's why there's been so much trouble with Gloria obsession. 2) The characters are pretty bare-faced. Cricket is the reckless one, Tilly is the weird but innocent one, Gramma is the cranky one, and Bill is the straight-man.
There's nothing about their dynamic or their characterizations to dive deeper into.
3) The setting isn't really a conversation-starter either. We know its a city and the Greens are countryfolks, but it has no character to it. I can't fathom how the family would act any different if they were back on their farm.
It's an enjoyable, easy-going show. It doesn't lend itself to being picked apart and talked about in detail. A few screenshots, a few jokes highlighted, and the thread is done.
Aaron Foster
because i'm bad at everything.
Aaron Gonzalez
considering TCR did not came out yet, although i thought that he referring to the OP image above
Luis Green
Your third point is my main gripe with this series.
After 20 episodes, Gravity Falls had introduced so many recurring characters, settings, and running gags that made the show memorable and beloved beyond the ongoing mystery. And this can all be said even when focusing exclusively on the human characters in their small hick town.
Meanwhile, BCG’s aired 29 half-hours, yet I barely remember half of it. For such a Big City, the setting feels so small and limited. Just having the titular Greens, the Remingtons, Gloria, Ms. Cho (sort of), Officer Keys, Chip Whistler, Brett, and Cricket’s three forgettable friends that showed up in, what, two episodes(?) really hasn’t done much and fails to prove whether the show has lasting potential or not.
If you’re reading this thread, Chris, please take advantage of BCG’s fish-out-of-water premise by maybe emphasizing the scale of the city and its presumably dense population. The show’s already disposable even before Amphibia and The Owl House have premiered.
>>The show’s already disposable even before Amphibia and The Owl House have premiered.
THis
Dylan Morris
Would an isekai starring Tilly be good? A little country girl in a magical world filled with i dunno futuristic flying cities and cyborg aliens could be cool.
The most probable answers are actually pretty simple.
"Axin' Saxon" was produced as a Season 2 episode (hence Nancy even appearing in it), which means any past scenes with a shirtless Bill were likely designed before the BCG crew had decided to give him a farmer's tan.
The crew could've also given Bill that farmer's tan to push the whole "gone fishin'" aspect, where one can grow a tan after sitting out in the sun for hours. They might've made that decision without thinking too much about whether Bill had appeared shirtless in the show before.
Point is, the tan was never originally designed as part of Bill's model sheet (like, say Greg Universe). Plus, it's a cartoon with flexible continuity.
Because they at least pay attention to scheduling.
Disney is a hot mess at that and has been for decades.
Isaiah Hall
I need more fanart on that level, actually.
Sad, but true. I still do enjoy watching it, however - unlike Star fucking Vs (UGH.). I'm still looking forward to Amphibia and The Owl House overshadowing both examples, either way (hopefully because they're good shows, not just the obvious porn - that's inevitable.).
>I've seen this post everywhere on BCG threads Have a pity (You) on the house.
Cameron Wilson
>murrlogic / wonderbreadfag That guy is a good argument for hating shows like Craig of the Creek (and by extension, The Loud House) with good reason - typical toxic fandom BS.
Josiah Peterson
I just don’t get why the mods won’t immediately delete his posts on command or ban his ass for good. That dude is basically a parasite at this point. It’s not even funny.
i posted the stacked tilly (cropped out the lewd parts of the pic) to generate discussion. since that didn't do the trick, i might use the obese one as a last resort.
there's also the lack of shipping in the show and those tend to bump threads up.
dat episode, had him getting "lovestrucked" sickness, when a random girl asks him to dance, when she wasn't realistically in love with him and barely knows his, only makes him a "complete dumbass" for thinking like that
Alexander Perry
>I've seen this post everywhere on BCG threads When nearly every thread dies after 20 replies, you can’t help but use the same posts to make sure people see it.
user, (BCG) threads like this only dies when no user provides enough topids or anything that could make it last, hell the last three threads had lasted within 4 to 5 days straight without any problems aside from one complaining about necroposting or necrobumping the thread just to last a little longer when no one have anything to add on the table, hell we can't get BCG threads without some random user talking trash about the show and how the show sucks and saying Amphibia and The Owl House is better whilst adding photos of Luz and Eda mostly or some Gloriafag coming out of the blue and spam about how Gloria is the shits, or that wonderbreadfag that talks about Eliza from COTC and other waifus while shilling some cancerous shit that nobody fucks with.
Noah Cox
The lack of shipping of the show relies on others outside the show, so far, there's rarely anyone that ships how, aside from one shipping Bill with Juan pablo, or that cancerous Cricket and Gloria that Gloriafags spam the shit out of it.
James Nguyen
It's actually quite peaceful when a show doesn't have any shipping wars. One of the reasons why I like Clarence.
Jordan Rodriguez
No, because there's not many that supported into it.
Jordan Lopez
There are fans who ship the characters but it never degenerated into shipping war territory. The closest the show got to a shipping war was that thread where people got nasty in discussing whether or not miss Baker should've settled for the lowest common denominator if she was so desperate for a relationship.
Jackson Diaz
I really fucking hope not.
Oh God - I fucking hated that episode, too. It only made Cricket look more unlikable than he usually comes off to a lot of people.
Cooper Morgan
>Cricket X Gloria Whomever does this can go fuck themselves. No chemistry and they both just cause grief for one another - THAT's not a healthy relationship or one in general. It's just crappy writing in a show I otherwise I like when the focus is fucking off of it as much as ever possible!
Christopher Richardson
Blame Gloriafags, there the reason why they derail threads when they spam the same old shit since day one.
Cooper Nelson
I keep thinking of the family guy pose for some reason whenever I see this scene. It's nowhere near the fg pose but it still gives me that same feeling.
Noah Phillips
Wel before mods decides to close the thread due to inactivity, here's a promo for the season finale. youtube.com/watch?v=UxC748k9DMQ
>hating on Cricket and Gloria ship I'm a Tillyfag myself because she is the perfection, but come on, Cricket and Gloria look awesome together
Ethan Collins
>>Based Gloriafag >>Trying to act like a Tillyfag when that shit doesn't exist
Zachary Russell
>Tillyfags don't exist Wait, you mean to tell me that you don't consider Tilly to be a goddess? Heretic!
Jose Ramirez
no bc if you, as a GloriaFag, trying to use Tilly as a lame ass excuse of Tillyfag and no i did not disagree on her being a "goddess" or baka
Lucas Smith
Nah, not really a Gloriafag. On the contrary, I'm saddened that she gets so much art while Tilly gets almost nothing, but I don't hate her, and and I do think this weird in-universe shipping of her and Cricket is cute
Luis Russell
The “season finale” looks like it’ll be fun, but we all know “Phoenix Rises” is the REAL S1 finale. Disney just loves fucking with the intended order of episodes.
Let me remind you that “Welcome Home” aired as part of the eighth half-hour instead of being paired up with “Space Chicken.”
Actually there was some screwups with Disney messing up with the episode original order that Welcome Home was originally intended to air first while either Space Chicken was placed the second segment, and among other that had their original order switched around
It’s really not a Disney thing and more a general broadcast network thing - CN does it, Nick does it and Fox ALWAYS does it to their animated sitcoms
Elijah Peterson
still dumb af tho
Ayden Bennett
mostly if its a episodic comedy series that involves a little on serialize plot, mostly to suit well with reruns, series like SU rarely gets reruns since they don't want to go through placing episodes in order.
Tyler Long
big shitty sneeds
Matthew Williams
>series like SU rarely gets reruns since they don't want to go through placing episodes in order So... they’re lazy. Man, FUCK the schedulers!
Too bad after this week's episode is over, there aren't going to be another thread until Season 2
Colton Perry
But since a big chunk of the episodes were shuffled around and many that will air as part of S2 are likely already completed we could see that happen fairly soon, I’d be surprised if we got a long pointless hiatus considering Disney has treated the show pretty well lately (as much as people like to equate not popular with adults & Yea Forums with unsuccessful, the show has been doing just fine)
Kevin Flores
She's an evil koopa
Cooper Kelly
who
Ryan Cruz
Gamma just look at her
Angel Wood
Gloria's girlfriend-a very special episode
Eli Morales
they'd probably show kevin first (blood moon and valentine dance)
Hudson Williams
don't encourage jerseydevil.
Asher Moore
Why? He 'd made a few of them back during the show''s infancy, he haven't made more since them
WTF does age have to do with lewding her, that wasn't the shit i'm talking about
Nicholas Barnes
>Officer Keys rams Cricket for littering. Is he the man Commissioner Gordon needs?
Parker Moore
>>Prolly did it for showing your ass in his face. >>Thought that was the "fuck me, pretty boy" signal
Kek
Isaiah Scott
or when someone mentions about it
Eli Ortiz
Did airing the episodes out of order actually help the show or showing Nancy too soon a wrong choice?
Ian Diaz
The episode order originally had started off with 20 (40 in segments) with Phoenix Rises placed as the season finale, but when Disney decided to add 10 more which it jumble the original order differently
John Ortiz
I was thinking whatever hype phoenix rising's ending would've generated, the follow up wouldn't live up to it.
James Phillips
prolly so
Jordan Sanders
People would speculate why Nancy went to jail and simple animal rights activism would probably be a letdown for a lot of people.
Easton Rogers
it was either used as the main excuse for her time in jail, although so far we had heard no episode mentioning anything on how Bill and Nancy got divorced for what purpose
Camden Davis
Hell yeah it was a wrong choice!
Like said, there were 10 additional episodes produced as part of Season 1, meaning they chronologically take place before Nancy’s reveal. So far, we’ve only gotten “Big Deal”/“Forbidden Feline” and “Hurty Tooth”/“Sleepover Sisters.”
This means we still have EIGHT more Season 1 half-hours without Nancy that have yet to air, and I couldn’t even begin to know how or when Disney plans to release them.
>using memes in a show Almost as bad as the "My Leg" episode
Josiah Morris
Fuck you, that was funny.
And while we're on the subject of Craig of the Creek, I really liked today's episode. A cute story with funny jokes that further delved into the machinations of the Creek kids' society.
I was thinking what her casual clothes would look like. We mostly see her at work or at an event of some sort. We saw her in a bunch of different outfits. Geez, I'm blind. I noticed that just a minute ago. And I was wondering how or why would she change.
Seriously, is she wearing padding in paint misbehavin? She's flat in Valentine's dance.
Evan Baker
Of course she's wearing padding. She had to have a proper artist's figure if she was going to hob-nob with the other creatives of Big City.
Leo Price
She'd probably get more tips if she wore them at work. Though it does make me wonder if Chip Whistler's into flat chicks because he hit on Gloria sans padding.
Jose Diaz
Maybe he's into Asians? They're usually not very busty.
man, the eyes are the hardest thing for me to get right when i try to draw BCG characters.
Anthony Flores
I had problems with the faces. I would actually add placeholder noses so that I would know which direction they're pointing. Simplicity is deceptively tricky to get right like that.
Juan Martinez
I remember the thread with the officer keys design sheet. People mocked the design notes about how hard it was to draw him (simple design = easy) but no one did their own to prove the staff wrong.
Parker Ramirez
Tilly phone service What if Tilly called you during dinner
Asher Wilson
I love the way Tilly runs with her arms to the side
That's Gramma's property. Bill used have his own farm in the country but he had to sell it and move to the city where he now lives with his mom like some deadbeat millennial.
Wyatt Anderson
LOL everything gets Rule34 Just look at Thomas and Friends.
Lincoln Edwards
There's a bunch of appealing background characters in the series. For some reason the green lady gets the most attention.
Brandon Bell
Nah, most attention falls mostly on Gloria over the green lady
Carter Perez
Wonder if he decides to make another one again
Ian Gonzalez
prolly a million years, it took him a long time to make a shota art of the annoying mc
Levi Scott
He seemed really into her ponytail. Even weirder, Gloria got really offended by that. I guess hair is their world's cleavage.
Nicholas Jenkins
Or it’s just children’s TV censorship making things sort of weird and fetishistic by proxy, not like it hasn’t happened before
Asher Green
Gloria is aided massively by her voice, personality, and tension with Cricket I feel, if her design belonged to a background character I wouldn’t care about her but since I know her as an actual character with some depth I do
Justin Peterson
They're just different enough to be distinct from one another.
Daniel Reed
Speaking if censorship, I'm weirded out why gramma's "cusswords" keeps getting censored. 'imp' is censor worthy?
Jace King
She adds the kind of juxtaposition needed to make the Greens stand out in the setting. She's Big City rolled up into a person who deals with how at ease the Green family is with being different.
Nolan Kelly
She's also a foil to them in how the greens never had to change to fit in but she had to change her suburban ways to fit in. Heck, her dialogue revealed that she has no big city friends but the greens managed to befriend probably the richest family in the city.
Adrian Thompson
How come the greens aren't rich? The family treasure episode showed how big their farm was, now it's just a decently sized lot. Did the surrounding areas stole their land?
Zachary Hill
necrobumper
Lucas Robinson
One particular land which the barn on the left, which it later shows it as rundown and was later razed for the coffee shop that Gloria works.
Cooper Moore
Would watch full length Kiss of Death
Adam Clark
This episode!
Logan Turner
Spam
Juan Clark
Are screwed are landowners again if the government decides to place a road on your property? Do they buy the land or you're just screwed? If your land still exists on the other side of the road, is that considered a different property (you pay twice)?
Lincoln Sanders
I thought I remembered back in Steak Night, Gramma mentioned something about the government or something, though unrelated
Jordan Roberts
but as a farm person he should be sexually fetishizing his sister.
Explains the need for the sword to protect herself, she’s got major PTSD
Samuel Foster
aside from the lack of lore or waifus like everyone else said, the show is just painfully average and safe. there's very little to genuinely discuss.
Jacob Sullivan
How deep do people expect the show should be? People expect everything to be laid out at once? Why can't people let it be it's own thing or let things build up naturally like mentioned ?
Brody Perry
Some people find the pace too slow, comparing it to Gravity Falls which managed to tell more in far fewer episodes. I'm not sure if the comparison is fair since GF was a lore heavy show and the episodes were filled with mysteries, clues, ciphers and stuff. BCG sets up new things gradually. Nancy was mentioned several times before they revealed why she was gone.
Jace Bailey
Of course it's not fair (for reasons you already mentioned). Honestly, I prefer Nancy's mystery more than the entirety of gravity falls'.
Charles Ward
He just recently made another one
Noah Powell
They quite opposite. Just remember, Steven Universe was like that, it took a few episodes, just before they started the introduction to fusions and new gems like Lapis or Peridot
Connor Hill
But SU and GF aren't in the same category as BCG. Sure BCG characters can develop further down the line but it's not really expected for them to do so (become a serious story). Mighty Magiswords never developed one even if it had all the ingredients to do so but they never did because it wasn't supposed to.
Joseph Lopez
i doubt that he cares.
Ian Jones
she also had a trident. just how many bladed weapons did she own?
Landon Kelly
And the family in this show comes from a state that closely resembles the states usually associated with incest
Connor Reed
Did they ever say where big city is exactly or are they going for a Springfield situation?
Nathaniel Rivera
I doubt they'll say anything about that. They already said they don't want to reveal the characters' ages, for instance.
Connor Price
so "why they lost the farm" and "why they're divorced" are off the table or they're willing to tell it on a later date?
Asher Hughes
Those are a different question. I guess they will reveal that eventually - why else would they bring that up? I mean, they explained details such as Bill's missing finger or Nancy's criminal past. We know just about everything about Gloria at this point. Surely there will be more backstory details like these.
Adrian Gonzalez
gonna guess that there will be no shenanigans (bill got conned) or serious stuff (infidelity) but the respective answers will still make sense but not exactly jaw-dropping like nancy's reason for going to jail.
